Mr Ladan Salihu, former Director-General, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), on Friday decried the rising insecurity in the country, \u201cespecially in the North-West and North-Eastern part of the country\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Salihu spoke with newsmen in Bauchi shortly after submitting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) form he recently picked to seek the party\u2019s ticket to contest the Bauchi South Senatorial<\/a> seat.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are many issues to worry about \u2013 poverty, deprivation, unemployment and, most importantly,\u00a0 insecurity<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the past, no state in the North-West was hit by insecurity. Today, virtually all the states in the North-West are in a state of insecurity. The\u00a0North-East is also hit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are many issues that will\u00a0propel me and like-minds to go into politics<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Assembly requires people of high quality. Such high quality representation will engender discussions on crucial issues critical to growth and development of Nigeria<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need quality representation in terms of the knowledge that is required to give impetus to leadership, in terms of the aggregation of ideas of manifesto in politics and also what you bring to the table in terms of the experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also require \u2018deepening stakeholding\u2019 as well as the knowledge that will enable one give the people a voice.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to represent people in the best of ways that will reflect their own aspirations, expectations and dreams for a greater future.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we try to fine-tune Nigeria, I am driven by the passion to help in a moment of crisis. We have the crisis<\/a> of insecurity, poverty of not only the pocket, but of mind, education, unemployment, among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope to be given the chance to participate in the broader national conversation on the issues that are Germain to the development of Nigeria, to the unity of the country, to the advancement of democracy and to the employment of youth<\/a>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
