{"id":20158,"date":"2022-04-20T16:09:27","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T16:09:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=20158"},"modified":"2022-04-20T16:09:27","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T16:09:27","slug":"agent-docked-for-allegedly-defrauding-15-accommodation-seekers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/20\/agent-docked-for-allegedly-defrauding-15-accommodation-seekers\/","title":{"rendered":"Agent docked for allegedly defrauding 15 accommodation seekers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 40-year-old estate agent, Tunji Adebayo, was on Wednesday docked in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/14\/assault-magistrate-orders-housewife-to-sweep-court-premises-for-5-days\/\"><strong>Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court<\/strong><\/a> in Kaduna for allegedly defrauding 15 accommodation seekers of N3.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>The police charged Adebayo, who lives in Ungwan Rimi in Kaduna, with two counts of fraud and theft.<\/p>\n<p>However, he pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between December. 2021 and February in Kaduna.<\/p>\n<p>He alleged that the defendant obtained N3.6 million from 15 people seeking accommodation.<\/p>\n<p>Leo said that the defendant was apprehended following a tip-off by the bank, when the he went to withdraw the money from his account.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 241 and 271 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The defence counsel, Mr A. O.
