Gov. Gboyega Oyetola<\/a> of Osun says the distribution of the monthly free food by the state government is aimed at banishing hunger and poverty<\/a> among the vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n

Oyetola said this during the state\u2019s\u00a0monthly free food distribution programme on Monday in Osogbo.<\/p>\n

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Wole Oyebamiji, the governor said\u00a0that the\u00a0free food scheme had become a model of social investment programmes of the\u00a0government.<\/p>\n

The governor also said that the scheme had recorded huge success as it had helped to bring\u00a0the government closer to the people.<\/p>\n

Oyetola, who described the initiative as a veritable tool for meeting the masses at the point of their needs, said on no account would government renege on its pledge to continue with the programme.<\/p>\n

\u201d This free food programme is targeted at banishing hunger, poverty and related vices as part of government\u2019s social security intervention designed to scale-up the welfare and general well-being of the citizenry\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Mr\u00a0Olalekan Badmus, said the government would continue to make the free food available to vulnerable groups in the state.<\/p>\n
