{"id":21356,"date":"2022-04-26T11:21:21","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T11:21:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=21356"},"modified":"2022-04-26T11:21:21","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T11:21:21","slug":"frsc-cautions-motorists-on-hazards-of-rainy-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/26\/frsc-cautions-motorists-on-hazards-of-rainy-season\/","title":{"rendered":"FRSC cautions motorists on hazards of rainy season"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)\u00a0 in Delta has advised motorists to be cautious and drive with care so as\u00a0 to prevent accidents during the rainy season.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mr Ibrahim Abubakar, the FRSC Sector <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/01\/30\/army-commander-reiterates-commitment-to-personnel-welfare\/\">Commander<\/a> in the state, gave the advice in an interview with our correspondent in Asaba on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to Abubakar, the nonchalant attitudes and impatience of motorists are responsible for majority of the road crashes.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cRainy season is here and the rate of road crashes will likely\u00a0 increase. We are not relenting especially here in Delta; our men are out on the roads cautioning drivers to reduce their speed limits.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe rainy season is the time we call for \u2018special <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/14\/easter-frsc-warns-motorists-against-dangerous-driving-excessive-speeding-in-kebbi\/\">driving<\/a> technics\u2019 for drivers as most of them\u00a0 do not have good visibilities while it is raining.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe moment it rains, the roads tend to be slippery. We are appealing to motorists to be more careful and be\u00a0 more cautious when they are behind\u00a0 the wheels on the highways.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cTheir vehicles must\u00a0 have wipers and lights\u00a0\u00a0 that are functioning effectively. Also,\u00a0 their tyres must be\u00a0 in good conditions so that both the drivers and their commuters\u00a0 can enjoy good ride during the rainy season,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Abubakar, who admonished motorists to shun over loading, speeding and\u00a0 the use of mobile phones while driving, urged them to install\u00a0 the speed limit devices in their vehicles especially commercial vehicles, to curtail\u00a0 speeding.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI believe that if all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/03\/08\/bauchi-state-govt-to-marry-off-100-repentant-commercial-sex-workers\/\">commercial<\/a> vehicles have\u00a0 the speed limit devices installed in their vehicles, it will have a drastic effect on the number of fatalities\u00a0 on our highways.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe need to have a change of mind, and\u00a0 a change of attitude on speeding, overloading or\u00a0 in the use of mobile phones while driving; we need to change our attitudes to road safety cautions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)\u00a0 in Delta has advised motorists to be cautious and drive with care so as\u00a0 to prevent accidents during the rainy season.
