{"id":21890,"date":"2022-04-29T03:50:26","date_gmt":"2022-04-29T03:50:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=21890"},"modified":"2022-04-29T03:50:26","modified_gmt":"2022-04-29T03:50:26","slug":"fbcs-for-new-infrastructure-projects-will-create-5800-jobs-2-06bn-revenue-icrc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/29\/fbcs-for-new-infrastructure-projects-will-create-5800-jobs-2-06bn-revenue-icrc\/","title":{"rendered":"FBCs for new infrastructure projects will create 5,800 jobs, $2.06bn revenue \u2014ICRC"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), has issued two Full Business Case (FBCs) Certificates of Compliance for new infrastructure projects.<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>The FBCs are estimated to generate 5,800 new jobs and 2.06 billion dollars in revenue.<\/p>\n<p>This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Manji Yarling, the Acting Head, Media and Publicity, ICRC in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/15\/abuja-hotelier-urges-youths-to-shun-yahoo-ritual-money\/\">Abuja<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Yarling said the FBCs were presented to the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the FBCs are for the concession of the Badagry Deep Seaport and the Floating Dry Dock for The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).<\/p>\n<p>He said this was in line with the commission\u2019s statutory bid to regulate the advancement of infrastructure development in Nigeria through Public Private Partnerships (PPPs).<\/p>\n<p>The statement quoted the Acting Director-General, ICRC, Mr Michael Ohiani who presented the certificates, as saying \u201cboth projects will\u00a0 generate more than two billion dollars for the Federal Government and create over 5,800 jobs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the opportunity to present the FBC compliance certificate for the Badagry Deep Seaport and within the concession period, it is going to generate over two billion dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ohiani said that the project would create employment opportunities for more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also use this opportunity to present the FBC for the Floating Dry Dock for NIMASA, it is going to create over 800 jobs and will accrue over 65 million dollars within the period of the concession,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Yarling said the Badagry Port aims to address current infrastructure challenges and provide shipping lines and supply chain managers with the best productivity, location, flexibility and cost-effectiveness to power the global supply chains of Nigeria\u2019s leading brands.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/29\/enugu-state-owned-broadcasting-house-razed-down-by-fire\/\">state<\/a>-of-the-art multi-purpose facility will offer its customers superior uncongested hinterland connectivity and the deepest water in West Africa.<\/p>\n<p>He said the facility would create a sustainable competitive advantage for Nigeria going forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen completed, the port will comprise: Terminals (General cargo terminals, Container terminals, RoRo &amp; Grain terminals, Offshore supply basis (OSB), Liquid Bulk jetties, Barge and Rail terminal, among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Badagry Port will also among other things, increase government revenues, facilitate foreign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/27\/lasg-lcci-woo-investors-to-lagos-island\/\">investments<\/a> in required modern port infrastructure and reduce congestion within Apapa and Tin Can Island ports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yarling said for the Floating Dry Dock, the revenue stream of the project would be derived from services provided to Vessels.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the total revenue accruing to NIMASA for the 15 years concession period will be 65,607,171 dollars.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), has issued two Full Business Case (FBCs) Certificates of Compliance for new infrastructure projects.
