The Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos has challenged newly matriculated students of the institution to be focused in their mission to acquire needed knowledge in their career.<\/span><\/div>\n
The Provost of College, Dr. Wahab Azeez,<\/span>\u00a0gave the advice on Thursday, at the matriculation of 528 students for the 2021\/2022 academic session, in <\/span>Lagos<\/a>.<\/span><\/div>\n
Azeez urged the students to take advantage of the vocational training in the college to complement their studies.<\/span><\/div>\n
He said that the the college management had improved on its infrastructure, with a well-equipped library and medical centre within the school premises to cater for the needs of both staff and students.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cThis indeed is a pathway to your academic career and development, being among the lucky few to be offered admission into acquiring Nigeria Certicate in Education (NCE) and Professional Diploma in <\/span>Education<\/a> (PDE) from this noble institution.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201d All our academic staff and non-teaching staff are well trained and qualified to pass unto you the required knowledge, training, skills and character needed to be certified as qualified Vocational-Technical Teachers.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201d You are, therefore, expected at the end of your career to impart the knowledge to others and utilise acquired skills in relevant areas to make meaningful impact on the development needs of our dear nation.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0Take your studies seriously and with diligence, attend lectures regularly and punctually, make best use of the school library, which is well-equipped with the relevant study materials, including e-library.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201d Note that the most patronising student or students of the library will be recognised and awarded accordingly, however, we discourage students from sleeping in the library or holding conversation there,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/div>\n
The College Provost warned of the institution\u2019s zero tolerance to vices such as\u00a0 cultism, drug abuse, prostitution, examination malpractice, violence against fellow students or staff.<\/span><\/div>\n
He said that the College management took security on campus seriously, with surveillance 24\/7 by the college-engaged security men and Close Circuit Television and Cameras to detect criminally-minded persons.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cThe school authority in collaboration with the law enforcement agencies will not spare the rod on any <\/span>student<\/a> found to be going against the code of conduct; you are, therefore, strongly advised to be security conscious,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/div>\n
The provost encouraged the students to avail themselves of the services of the Student\u2019s Affairs Unit in times of difficulty and need.<\/span><\/div>\n
He said that the college was affiliated with the University of Benin in running a full time programme in Agricultural studies, expressing hope of continuous partnership with the institution in other programmes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Mr Rufus Emmanuel Students Union President of the College, welcomed the new students.<\/span><\/div>\n
He described the institution as a hub of intellectual challenge where previous conceptions and foundations of knowledge were freely questioned and reexamined, bringing about the flourishing of new ideas.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201d I congratulate you as bonafide students of FCE (Technical), a place where students become free through knowledge and truth,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/div>\n
