The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya and Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Isiaka Amao on Monday,\u00a0 celebrated the Eid-el-fitr by hosting troops of \u201cOperation Hadin\u201d to a luncheon in\u00a0 Maiduguri, Borno.<\/p>\n

Yahaya said the Sallah gift he expected from the troops was to neutralise more terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other violent criminals<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI urge you all not to relent but to go with all vigour, more determination and more aggressiveness.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe shall all be ruthless with terrorists and kidnappers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Sallah gift I expect from you is to neutralise\u00a0 the terrorists to make the country safer,\u201d Yahaya said.<\/p>\n

While noting that security challenge was\u00a0 not peculiar to Nigeria, the COAS assured that the troops on ground in various theatre of operations across the country were equal to the task in containing the situation.<\/p>\n

He lauded the support the military was getting from the President and Commander in Chief, Muhammadu Buhari and assured the military\u2019s loyalty and commitment to professionalism.<\/p>\n

Yahaya paid respect to military personnel that paid the supreme prize in the fight to keep the nation safe,\u00a0 pledging that thier families would not be neglected.<\/p>\n

He also assured those who sustained injuries in the fight of proper medical<\/a> care.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, the chief of air staff said the luncheon was to appreciate the efforts of the troops and to further boost their morale.<\/p>\n

Amao who lauded the synergy between the military and other security agencies in the fight against terrorism, said the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) remained\u00a0 committed in providing the needed support to sustain the onslaught on terrorists.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is heart warming to note the huge successes from both Operation Desert Sanity and Lake Sanity.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully, sanity will\u00a0 soon be restored in Sambisa, Mandara Mountains, Timbuktu Triangle and Lake Chad region.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is noteworthy that these successes willl not have been possible without the sacrifice and devotion of officers and men in maintaining this level of efficiency,\u201d Amao said.<\/p>\n

While listing some of the platforms provided the air force under President Buhari\u2019s\u00a0 administration and the additional ones being expected, Amao said that the development would further strengthen\u00a0 the NAF as a fighting force.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno,\u00a0 represented by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, lauded the service chiefs for always being in touch with the troops to boost their morale.<\/p>\n

The governor\u00a0 assured the commitment of Borno government to support the troops to\u00a0 succeed in its assigned tasks of restoring peace to Borno<\/a> and Northeast in general.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people of North East, particularly Borno,\u00a0 the epicentre of insurgency have seen a lot of positive results in the renewed ongoing operations and urge you to sustain the tempo for maximum result,\u201d Zulum said.<\/p>\n

Reports that highlight of the occassion is the serving of food to some injured soldiers who attended the luncheon.<\/p>\n
