{"id":23230,"date":"2022-05-06T12:11:35","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T12:11:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=23230"},"modified":"2022-05-06T12:11:35","modified_gmt":"2022-05-06T12:11:35","slug":"bandits-nrc-announces-restoration-of-track-access-between-abuja-and-kaduna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/06\/bandits-nrc-announces-restoration-of-track-access-between-abuja-and-kaduna\/","title":{"rendered":"Bandits: NRC announces restoration of track access between Abuja and Kaduna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has disclosed that the track access between Abuja and Kaduna is now restored.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Managing Director of the Corporation, Mr Fidet Okhiria, confirmed the development in a statement issued by Director Operations of the NRC, Mr Niyi Alli, on Thursday in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/03\/2023-elections-lagos-lawmaker-insists-tinubu-ll-change-nigerias-story-for-good\/\">Lagos<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Okhiria explained that the south end of the tracks, destroyed by explosion, has been successfully joined with the north end.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said: \u201cIn our concerted efforts at restoring the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/02\/train-attack-nrc-confirms-safety-of-170-passengers-working-to-rescue-others\/\">Abuja\u2013Kaduna\u00a0<em>Train<\/em>\u00a0Service<\/a> (<em>AKTS<\/em>) tracks corridor for resumption of service, please note the latest updates as follow:<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe connection of the AKTS line has been achieved. This implies that the major track components (Concrete Sleepers and Rails) have been completely laid.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe south end of the tracks (which was destroyed by the explosion), has been successfully joined with the north end. Track access between Abuja and Kaduna is now restored.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Okhiria said the technical team would continue with other track stablisation works including Ballasting, Temping, Fastening of accessories (clips, bolts and nuts) and Welding.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He reminded that the Loco 2502 which was involved in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/30\/kebbi-frsc-collaborating-with-relevant-stakeholders-for-accident-free-eid-el-fitr-official\/\">accident<\/a> (though not damaged) and trapped at the Rigasa end due to lack of route access, has now crossed to the Idu end.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The managing director added This has been taken to the workshop for proper examination and routine maintenance.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Okhiria said as had been mentioned in earlier releases, the Abuja\u2013Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) would resume soon with additional security measures put in place.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He reminded that passengers would be required to provide their NIN registration for verification prior to purchasing train tickets, adding that this was for improved passenger profiling and safety on board.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The managing director said: \u201cWe will continue to collaborate with security agencies to ensure that all persons being held are rescued unhurt and reunited with their families soon.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cWe continue to pray for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate attack.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cWe also pray that Almighty God to continue to grant the families of those who lost loved ones, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cWe equally pray for the full recovery of those injured in the ill-fated AK9 train service of 28 March, 2022.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Okhiria said in compliance with President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s directive, it encourages anyone still looking for a loved one or for update to please contact the following numbers in its situation room: Mrs Lola 08023310145 and Mr Mahmood 07038356015.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said the NRC continues to express its profound gratitude to the security agencies for the continued support, especially for the security cover availed its officials and staff at the incident site.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The managing director said as customary, the corporation would update the general public of the latest developments.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has disclosed that the track access between Abuja and Kaduna is now restored.
