{"id":23281,"date":"2022-05-06T17:37:26","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T17:37:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=23281"},"modified":"2022-05-06T17:37:26","modified_gmt":"2022-05-06T17:37:26","slug":"2023-presidency-group-pledges-n120m-support-for-oshiomholes-ambition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/06\/2023-presidency-group-pledges-n120m-support-for-oshiomholes-ambition\/","title":{"rendered":"2023 presidency: Group pledges N120m support for Oshiomhole\u2019s ambition"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">A socio-poitical group in Edo, Owan and Akoko-Edo Alliance, says it will mobilise N120 million in support of the presidential aspiration of former Governor of Edo, Mr Adams Oshiomhole.<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>The group\u2019s decision is contained in a statement issued in Benin on Friday, by its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/30\/only-national-chairman-national-secretary-can-authenticate-membership-cards-pdp\/\">Chairman<\/a> and Secretary, Sunny Ifijen and Omeiza Ogumah respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The group said it voluntarily decided to support the former governor because of his capacity and the fact that he would make a difference in the polity and governance of the country.<\/p>\n<p>According to the alliance, it never supported Oshiomhole\u2019s senatorial ambition because it wanted him to contest for a higher office such as the President.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have always known the capacity and ability of our comrade and hence our decision to support his ambition for higher office and not the senatorial ambition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOshiomhole\u2019s pedigree as a former labour leader, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/05\/2023-elections-kaduna-youth-group-drums-support-for-acg-abubakar-governorship-bid\/\">governor<\/a> and former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has adequately prepared him for the task of restructuring the change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndeed, the country is in dire need of a change in insecurity, social-political setting, economy and the general wellbeing of the people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, we have other capable people aspiring for the same position but Oshiomhole\u2019s antecedents stand him out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf his performance as governor of Edo doesn\u2019t say anything about him then I wonder who else is better positioned to occupy the number one political sit in the country,\u201d the group stated.<\/p>\n<p>According to Owan and Akoko-Edo Alliance, Oshiomhole had proved in all offices he held, that the challenges in the country were surmountable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is only if we have leaders that are committed, dedicated and good managers of human and material resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese were the things that guided his (Oshiomhole) achievents in office as governor of Edo and also other endeavours where he excelled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOshiomhole\u2019s popularity has not waned since leaving office unceremoniously as national chairman of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/06\/2023-elections-progressive-lawyers-oppose-proposed-apc-south-west-presidential-aspirants-meeting\/\">APC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is also a detribalised Nigerian whose friendship cut across every part of the country\u201d, the socio-political group added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A socio-poitical group in Edo, Owan and Akoko-Edo Alliance, says it will mobilise N120 million in support of the presidential aspiration of former Governor of Edo, Mr Adams Oshiomhole.
