The Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) has urged the government to seek justice for Sylvester Oromoni Jnr., a Dowen College student from Lekki, Lagos, who was reported dead.<\/p>\n

On Sunday in Abuja, the group issued a statement jointly signed by NDYC National Coordinator, Mr EJator Abido, and Mr Collins Achakpekri, Director for International Relations.<\/p>\n

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Oromoni was reported dead on Wednesday, December 1, by a Twitter user named @perrisonoromoni, who claimed to be the deceased’s cousin.<\/p>\n

According to @perrisonoromoni, the deceased was bullied and beaten by his classmates, which resulted in his death.<\/p>\n

Dowen College<\/a>, on the other hand, denied all allegations in a statement, claiming that Oromoni only complained of body pains from football.<\/p>\n

To ensure the safety of pupils and students, the group advocated for stricter government regulations in public and private schools.<\/p>\n

According to the council, the alleged heinous incident that resulted in the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jr.<\/a> could be happening in other schools as well.<\/p>\n

The group promised to work with relevant security agencies to identify school administrators who jeopardized the safety of their students and pupils.<\/p>\n

“We were shocked to learn of the incident that resulted in the death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromono Jnr.<\/p>\n

“We join other well-meaning people in condemning the incident and calling for the punishment of those found to be responsible for the unfortunate act.”<\/p>\n

“We would like to make an appeal for a comprehensive solution to the issue of children’s safety in schools.”<\/p>\n

The youths of the Niger Delta also urged the government to reconsider the requirements for school operators.<\/p>\n

“As a council, we will take on the responsibility of monitoring and exposing such evil acts that endanger the health and lives of children.”<\/p>\n

“We also appeal to community leaders, religious leaders, and every concerned citizen to join us in making schools safe for children.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
