{"id":23445,"date":"2022-05-07T19:16:14","date_gmt":"2022-05-07T19:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=23445"},"modified":"2022-05-07T19:16:14","modified_gmt":"2022-05-07T19:16:14","slug":"fg-approves-n3bn-sukuk-funds-for-numan-jalingo-road-rehabilitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/07\/fg-approves-n3bn-sukuk-funds-for-numan-jalingo-road-rehabilitation\/","title":{"rendered":"FG approves N3bn Sukuk funds for Numan-Jalingo road rehabilitation"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Alhaji Muazu Sambo, Minister of State for Works and Housing, says there\u00a0 is a provision of N3bn Sukuk fund in 2022 by the Federal Government to finance the Numan- Jalingo Road in Adamawa and Taraba states.<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Sambo announced this on Saturday during an inspection of federal road <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/29\/fbcs-for-new-infrastructure-projects-will-create-5800-jobs-2-06bn-revenue-icrc\/\">projects<\/a> within Taraba and Adamawa states.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He gave the assurance that\u00a0 once the Sukuk fund was accessed within a shot time, there\u00a0 would be remarkable progress at the construction site.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe 103 kilometre Numan- Jalingo road is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/13\/residents-express-relief-as-maiduguri-records-first-rainfall\/\">Maiduguri<\/a> \u2013Calabar Highway.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe section of the road that is not motorable\u00a0 is not acceptable for the road is the only connection between the North and South on the North Eastern axis of the country,\u201d Sambo said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The minister said\u00a0 that he wouldn\u2019t blame the contractor for the slow pace\u00a0 of work.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">According to him,\u00a0 it was due\u00a0 to\u00a0 the insufficient budgetary provision in the past and COVID-19 pandemic that affected the progress of work.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0He, however,\u00a0 said that with the current\u00a0 improved\u00a0 funding provision,\u00a0 the contractor\u00a0 was expected to service its equipment and be more serious on the construction work.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said if the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/07\/efcc-receives-go-ahead-to-investigate-oil-company-others-over-alleged-38m-fraud\/\">company<\/a> was found not to have the capacity to complete the job,\u00a0 government would not hesitate to terminate the contract and re-award it to a competent one.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">While briefing the\u00a0 Minister on the progress of work on the Numan- Jalingo road, a Senior Civil Engineer at the site, Maria\u00a0 Zirrah representing the Federal Controller of Works Adamawa,\u00a0 said insecurity, lack of construction materials and funding were responsible for the slow pace of work on the project.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Also, the Project Engineer of\u00a0 Deux Project Limited, the contractor for the Numan-Jalingo project, Frank Koshihuk who spoke on behalf of the contractor,\u00a0 said inflation, funding , insecurity were the major challenges on the construction work.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Koshihuk promised that as soon as the funding pattern for the rahabilation improved, the work would be completed within 8 months .<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Reports that the minister\u00a0 also inspected the construction of Zing \u2013Yakoko-Monkin Road in Taraba\u00a0 during his two-day working visit.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0The Numan-Jalingo road rehabilitation was awarded to Deux Project Nigeria Ltd at the cost of N11.6bn in March 2017 to be completed in July 2019.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Reports that the Federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/18\/suspend-2023-elections-install-interim-government-after-buharis-tenure-afe-babalola\/\">Government<\/a> has released N1.5bn to the contractor who has executed seven per cent of the work.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alhaji Muazu Sambo, Minister of State for Works and Housing, says there\u00a0 is a provision of N3bn Sukuk fund in 2022 by the Federal Government to finance the Numan- Jalingo Road in Adamawa and Taraba states.
