\u00a0Some PDP\u00a0 aspirants for Surulere Constituency I and Surulere Federal Constituency seats, Lagos State, have expressed hope for free, fair and credible primaries.<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n
\n

The aspirants made their views known in interviews\u00a0 with our correspondent\u00a0 on Sunday at No. 67, Adelabu St., Surulere<\/a>, venue of the primaries.<\/p>\n

Our correspondent observed presence of heavily-armed security personnel,\u00a0 including the police, army and civil defence corps, to forestall any breakdown of law and order.<\/p>\n

Mr Akinkunmi Thomas, House of Representatives<\/a> aspirant, who hailed the security arrangements, said that everything was set for the primaries.<\/p>\n

Thomas said the process was fine, including the security arrangements, adding that, apart from the delay which had\u00a0 been addressed by the party excutives, there were no flaws yet.<\/p>\n

He said he was hopeful of emerging the candidate of the party for the seat.<\/p>\n

The aspirant also said that if he emerged the winner, he would focus more on finding a lasting solution to problems in the power sector.<\/p>\n

\u201dI am hopeful that at the end of the day, victory belongs to me.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I win, I hope to focus on the power sector and\u00a0 will lobby to give to the people 15 -17 hours of power supply.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe process is fine, the \u00a0security is tight and no flaws yet,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Another aspirant, Mr Suleiman Thompson (Lagos State House of Assembly<\/a>), said he was\u00a0 also hopeful that the primaries would be free and fair.<\/p>\n

Thompson praised security personnel and party officials for efforts to ensure a smooth conduct of the primaries.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe security here is tight, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) is on ground and other security agents. I give them kudos for the security\u00a0 arrangement. I believe we will get it done soon.<\/p>\n

\u201dWe are very confident it will be a wonderful day and it will hopefully be\u00a0 free and fair.
\nAbdulateef Sanni said his Is positive and hopeful of winning the primaries.<\/p>\n

\u201dI am prepared for whatever comes out of it and ready to embrace peace,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Mr Williams Awinla-Banigo, a PDP chieftain, told our reporter that the delay was caused by what he alleged to be internal issues in the party, but which were being addressed.<\/p>\n

Awinla-Banigo, who also expressed\u00a0 hope for a free and fair primaries, urged the aspirants to embrace peace at the outcome of the primaries.<\/p>\n

He said that aspirants should not see the outcome of the process as \u2018a do or die affair\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201dIt is just like a football game between Arsenal and Chelsea. One person will win, while the other will lose.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe important thing is to embrace each other and work together for the good of the party. Don\u2019t engage in politics of bitterness,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr imafidon francis, the PDP ward chairman, Stadium\/Igbaja ward, expressed confidence in the party to conduct free and credible primaries.<\/p>\n

He said four aspirants were contesting for the house of representatives ticket while two others were contesting for state house of assembly.<\/p>\n

Mr Jamiu Awofala, Vice Chairman, PDP, Surulere LGA, said all was set for the primaries which held on Sunday.<\/p>\n
