{"id":26102,"date":"2022-05-25T11:03:35","date_gmt":"2022-05-25T11:03:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=26102"},"modified":"2022-05-25T11:03:35","modified_gmt":"2022-05-25T11:03:35","slug":"unicef-improves-access-to-education-for-102859-children-in-n-east-in-3-yrs-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/25\/unicef-improves-access-to-education-for-102859-children-in-n-east-in-3-yrs-official\/","title":{"rendered":"UNICEF improves access to education for 102,859 children in N\/East in 3 yrs\u2013 Official"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\"><\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The United Nations Children Education Fund,\u00a0 (UNICEF ) says it provided access to inclusive, equitable and quality education for 102,859 children in Borno within the last three years.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Education Manager of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/07\/kdsg-partners-unicef-for-comprehensive-service-delivery-in-health-education\/\">UNICEF<\/a>, Maiduguri Field Office, Paola Ripamonti, stated this during a news conference in Maiduguri, on Tuesday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ripamonti said that UNICEF supported 29,985 out of school youths and adolescents\u00a0 with vocational skills, including poultry farming, shoemaking, soap and bag production, tailoring, painting, and interlock tiles production among others.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">She said that the project, \u201cEduTrac System and the Mainstreaming of Psychosocial Support into Formal Education in Borno State\u201d, which would wrap up by the end of May, was supported by the European Union (EU).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ripamonti said the interventions were landmarks to improve educational planning, expand access to education for conflict affected children and strengthen learning outcomes while also improving their mental health.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">She said that it was designed to\u00a0 support the Response, Recovery and Resilience as well as to\u00a0 ensure that vulnerable children in the state had equal opportunity to quality <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/23\/asuu-strike-clark-urges-education-minister-to-take-over-negotiations\/\">education<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">According to her, the interventions supported no fewer than 300,000 children and youths.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">She said 52 per cent females among them were 20,104 out of school children who now access informal learning classes and 16,630 children who transitioned into the formal education system.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Also, that no fewer than\u00a0 29,000 youths of 55 per cent\u00a0 females, gained employable skills through vocational training.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cAdditionally, 750 members of School Based Management Committees have improved school management skills.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cAbout 1,630 teachers and Community Volunteer Teachers strengthened skills on various themes such as psychosocial support, gender sensitive pedagogy and effective classroom management,\u201d she said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The official noted that the interventions gave special attention to the girl child and females.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">She\u00a0 commend the partners for their roles in the implementation of the project.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Alhaji Ali Dogo, a Director at the State Universal Basic Education Board ( SUBEB), commended UNICEF and the European Union for the projects.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Dogo, however, noted that there were still many other areas begging for such interventions in the state.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He made a case, particularly for the northern part of the state, that was most affected by the insurgency.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He urged UNICEF and the EU to consider the continuation of its 10 million euros intervention projects in the state.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United Nations Children Education Fund,\u00a0 (UNICEF ) says it provided access to inclusive, equitable and quality education for 102,859 children in Borno within the last three years.
