{"id":26521,"date":"2022-05-28T04:33:02","date_gmt":"2022-05-28T04:33:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=26521"},"modified":"2022-05-28T04:39:59","modified_gmt":"2022-05-28T04:39:59","slug":"primaries-loyalists-allege-inconsistency-in-somolu-constituency-ii-delegates-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/28\/primaries-loyalists-allege-inconsistency-in-somolu-constituency-ii-delegates-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Primaries: Loyalists allege inconsistency in Somolu constituency II delegates list"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\u00a0Party loyalists at the APC house of assembly primaries in Somolu Constituency II, have\u00a0 alleged that political appointees were\u00a0 included in the delegates list,\u00a0 negating the new Electoral act.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1653667556615\">Reports have it that hundreds of the party loyalists blocked the entrance to the Bariga Local Council Development Area gate, venue of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/26\/i-will-emerge-victorious-at-apc-presidential-primaries-osinbajo-assures-lagos-supporters\/\">election in Lagos State<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1653667654734\">Speaking to NAN, Mr Rotimi Abiru, current Lagos state house of assembly lawmaker, Somolu constituency Ii, said the Electoral Act was very clear on who had the right to vote and be voted for.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1653667743677\">Abiru said\u00a0 the APC also reiterated that all political appointees seeking elective positions should resign before they could be allowed to participate in the election.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1653667797835\">\u201d l also have the right to vote and be voted for, but because l fall in that category of serving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/25\/group-decries-beheading-of-anambra-lawmaker-calls-for-fasting-prayer\/\">lawmaker<\/a>, l cannot vote.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1653667826142\">\u201d What is causing the problem here is that some local government political appointees who are not supposed to be on the list or to be voted for were included in the delegates list.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1653667899303\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1653667842575\">\u201d However, the electoral officer said that there is an appeal committee set up to hear all petitions and complaints and , they should seize the opportunity to write an appeal rather than stop the process of election,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1653667903605\">Our correspondent also reports that the electoral officer, delegates, security personnel appealed to the crowd to allow the process to start.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1653667954975\">As at 4.45 p.m, accreditation and voting had not commenced, while the Electoral officer, Mr Olaibe Blaize, told NAN that \u201cmy mandate is to conduct election here based on the names on the list.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1653668012272\">\u201d I am not here to compromise the mandate.
