{"id":27134,"date":"2022-05-31T15:55:59","date_gmt":"2022-05-31T15:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=27134"},"modified":"2022-05-31T15:55:59","modified_gmt":"2022-05-31T15:55:59","slug":"man-docked-for-alleged-possession-of-human-skull","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/31\/man-docked-for-alleged-possession-of-human-skull\/","title":{"rendered":"Man docked for alleged possession of human skull"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p class=\"entry-title\">A 38-year-old man, Ebuka Enuma, was on Tuesday docked in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/14\/assault-magistrate-orders-housewife-to-sweep-court-premises-for-5-days\/\"><strong>Yaba Chief Magistrates\u2019<\/strong><\/a> court in Lagos for alleged possession of a human skull.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Enuma, who resides in Bariga area of Lagos, is charged with unlawful possession of human part.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">He pleaded not guilty to the charge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Rita Momah, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 13, at Amukoko cemetery, Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Momah alleged that the defendant broke into the cemetery and excavated an old grave and stole the skull.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">She said that the defendant was arrested while trying to leave the cemetery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">The offence, she said,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">contravenes the provisions of Section 238 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 238 stipulates a 14 year jail term for\u00a0unlawful possession of human part.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Chief Magistrate Adeola Adedayo admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">She held that the sureties must submit copies of their National Identification Number (NIN), and their Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) card.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">She further directed that both of them must be residing within the court\u2019s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed with an affidavit of means and evidence of three years of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">Adedayo adjourned the case until June 28 for mention.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 38-year-old man, Ebuka Enuma, was on Tuesday docked in a Yaba Chief Magistrates\u2019 court in Lagos for alleged possession of a human skull.
