\u00a0The Chairman of Nigeria Park Volleyball Commission, Maj.-Gen. Taritimiye Gagariga, has entered into partnership with Dare Kuti Sports Foundation in ensuring a hitch free Kwara Inter Secondary School Volleyball competition.<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n
\n

The tournament is scheduled for June 8 to June 10, at the Indoor Sports Hall of Kwara<\/a> Stadium, Ilorin.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued in Ilorin on Thursday by Dare Kuti, Chief Organiser of the Inter Secondary School Volleyball Competition; Gagariga pledged his total support to the success of the competition.<\/p>\n

Kuti said: \u201cI want to thank the Chairman of Nigeria Park Volleyball Commission, Maj.-Gen. Taritimiye Gagariga, for entering into a strong partnership with Dare Kuti Sports Foundation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe partnership<\/a> will go a long way in ensuring the Kwara State Inter Secondary School Volleyball Competition becomes a reality.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaj.-Gen. Taritimiye Gagariga, who is the Corp Commander, Nigeria Army Artillery, Kontagora, is a believer in grassroots sports development, and he organised a National Championship tagged \u201cKontagora Invitational Challenge\u201d that had 37 teams with over 400 players competing.<\/p>\n

\u201cChildren under the ages of 15 bagged scholarships throughout their secondary schools, while others benefited from the Educational Grants meant to bankroll their WAEC fee.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe at Dare Kuti Sports Foundation believes the partnership will transform the fate of young athletes in the state,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In other news the National Association of Nigerian Students has said that it will continue to hold street protests, until the Academic Staff Union of Universities<\/a> (ASUU) calls off its 14-week-old strike.<\/p>\n

The group said this on Thursday during its peaceful protest at the entrance of the Federal Secretariat in Calabar.<\/p>\n

In a speech on behalf of the association, Comrade Anthony Afufu, said they decided to embark on the protest to prevail on the Federal Government to settle with ASUU, so they could return to the classroom.<\/p>\n

Afufu said that education is a right of every Nigerian and should not be trivialised by the government and elite in society.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to storm the streets until this strike is called off.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, we are at the Federal Secretariat, Calabar, the next protest, we will go to the airport.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe elite need to see us and feel our pains and urge the government to fulfil its promise reached with ASUU in 2009.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to stop this perenial strikes because whenever two elephants fight, it is the grass, which represents the students in this case, that suffers,\u201d Afufu said.<\/p>\n

He further charged the Federal Government to stop paying lip service to education and invest substantially in the sector to ensure a better future for the nation.<\/p>\n
