{"id":27667,"date":"2022-06-03T03:59:30","date_gmt":"2022-06-03T03:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=27667"},"modified":"2022-06-03T04:04:07","modified_gmt":"2022-06-03T04:04:07","slug":"first-lady-pledges-support-for-stakeholders-in-alternative-medicine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/03\/first-lady-pledges-support-for-stakeholders-in-alternative-medicine\/","title":{"rendered":"First Lady pledges support for stakeholders in alternative medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<h1><span style=\"color: inherit;font-family: inherit;font-size: 16px\">Nigeria&#8217;s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has pledged support for stakeholders in the Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (TCAM) toward ensuring accessibility and affordability of their products.<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>Mrs Buhari gave the pledge on Thursday when she received members of TCAM, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/26\/ex-japanese-farm-minister-convicted-for-taking-bribes-from-egg-producer\/\">Minister of State for Health<\/a>, Dr Olorunnimbe Mamora, at the State House, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>She emphasised the need for the stakeholders to sanitise and promote the use of traditional and alternative medicine for the growth of the nation`s health sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c TCAM is a long-standing complement to orthodox medicine in many parts of the world. In Nigeria, production of traditional herbs is still at its primary stage and needs to be further exploited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy intention, therefore, is to promote awareness on the importance of local herbs in healthcare, bearing in mind the need for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/15\/2023-lagos-pdp-developing-ambitious-winning-attitude-senatorial-aspirant\/\">developing<\/a> it scientifically and producing it for the benefit of our people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis requires collaboration in all aspects, from the health ministry to the local producers, because we cannot afford to allow our traditional herbs to waste,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, the minister called for support\u00a0by stakeholders in order to encourage the practitioners to increase production and patronage of traditional medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Mamora urged the practitioners to continue improving the traditional medicine.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201c there is no way of achieving universal health coverage without traditional medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reports have it that the delegation decorated the first lady as \u2018Ambassador and Champion\u2019 for her role in promoting traditional and alternative medicine in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Our correspondent also reports that the meeting was organised by the office of the first lady and the federal ministry of health to strategise, ahead of the TCAM Conference and Exhibition, scheduled for June 4 in Abuja.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nigeria&#8217;s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has pledged support for stakeholders in the Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (TCAM) toward ensuring accessibility and affordability of their products.
