\u00a0The Naira depreciated against the dollar at the Investors and Exporters window on Friday as it exchanged at N419.75 to the dollar, a 0.06 per cent depreciation, compared to N419.50 to the dollar on Thursday.<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n
\n

The open indicative rate closed at N419.70 to the dollar.<\/p>\n

An exchange rate<\/a> of N444.00 to the dollar was the highest rate recorded within the day\u2019s trading before it settled at N419.75.<\/p>\n

The Naira sold for as low as 410 to the dollar within the day\u2019s trading.<\/p>\n

A total of 185.85 million dollars was traded in foreign exchange at the official Investors and Exporters window on Friday<\/p>\n

In other news, Minister Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management<\/a> and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Faruk, has visited the 26 surviving victims of the gas explosion in Kano.<\/p>\n

Reports have it that the incident, which had already claimed a life, occurred on Thursday night at Sheka Quarters, Kano.<\/p>\n

Faruk, who was represented by the ministry\u2019s Permanent Secretary, Dr Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, met the survivors at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, where they were being treated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will support the victims in managing their care, as \u00a0care of burns requires a lot of dedication, time and is also expensive.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of the victims<\/a> are in critical condition, burn is not a small injury in health. We pray such incident would not occur again,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Faruk said that the ministry would put in place mechanism to ensure that the sale and use of gas were safer than they were now.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is already ringing a bell that a lot of things are unsafe and they needed to be sanitised. We will draw the attention of relevant authorities to them,\u201d\u00a0 she said.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the hospital\u2019s Chief Medical Director, Dr Hussaini Muhammad, said out of the 27 victims that were brought to the facility on June 2, one had died while the others were being treated.<\/p>\n

On his part, the Executive Secretary, Kano State Emergency Management Agency<\/a> (SEMA), Dr Saleh Jili, commended the minister for her support and wished the victims speedy recovery.<\/p>\n

Reports have it that the minister was accompanied by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Territorial Coordinator, Dr Nuradeen Abdullahi.<\/p>\n
