{"id":28591,"date":"2022-06-07T19:49:02","date_gmt":"2022-06-07T19:49:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=28591"},"modified":"2022-06-07T19:49:02","modified_gmt":"2022-06-07T19:49:02","slug":"world-food-safety-day-ngo-trains-450-women-on-food-hygiene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/07\/world-food-safety-day-ngo-trains-450-women-on-food-hygiene\/","title":{"rendered":"World Food Safety Day: NGO trains 450 women on food hygiene"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Save the Children International (SCI), an NGO, trained 450<\/p>\n<p>women on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/10\/group-donates-food-items-to-idps-urges-government-to-enhance-security\/\">food hygiene<\/a> on Tuesday in Damaturu, in commemoration of\u00a0 the 2022 World Food Safety Day.<\/p>\n<p>Reports that World Food Safety Day is celebrated annually on June 7<br \/>\nto draw attention and mobilise action to prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks and improve human health.<\/p>\n<p>The day has \u201cFood Safety is Every One\u2019s Business\u201d as slogan for 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Ramatu Bello, the Nutrition Officer SCI, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/20\/european-council-president-charles-michel-in-kiev-in-show-of-support\/\">European Union (EU)<\/a> Project, said access to sufficient amounts of safe<br \/>\nand nutritious food was key to sustaining life and promoting good health.<\/p>\n<p>She added that \u201cwe are here to showcase food items that are locally produced from the farms and how to process them for safe consumption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe trained the 450 women on how to produce, store and prepare different food items; observation of hygiene practices alongside<br \/>\ncompliance to COVID-19 safety measures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said there were 15 Lead Mothers and under each one of them, there were 30 beneficiaries which made them 450 in Nasarawa<br \/>\ncommunity, where the event was holding.<\/p>\n<p>Bello enjoined the beneficiaries to pass on the knowledge they learnt to other members of community who were not opportuned to attend.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Aishatu Ahmed and Hajiya Fanna Umar were some of the participants who expressed gratitude to SCI for the gesture,<br \/>\nsaying they had learnt a lot and would put the knowledge to practice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Save the Children International (SCI), an NGO, trained 450 women on food hygiene on Tuesday in Damaturu, in commemoration of\u00a0 the 2022 World Food Safety Day.
