{"id":29126,"date":"2022-06-10T12:41:26","date_gmt":"2022-06-10T12:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=29126"},"modified":"2022-06-10T12:42:58","modified_gmt":"2022-06-10T12:42:58","slug":"court-remand-trader-for-kicking-neighbour-in-groin-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/10\/court-remand-trader-for-kicking-neighbour-in-groin-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Court remand trader for kicking neighbour\u00a0 in groin area"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\"><\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A Sharia Court in Kano on Friday ordered that a 22-year-old trader, Umar Suleiman, who pleaded guilty to kicking his neighbour in the groin ares and stomach be remanded in a correctional centre.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The police charged Suleiman, who lives in Fagge Quarters,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/05\/police-arrest-suspected-fabricator-of-vehicles-master-keys-for-criminals-in-kano\/\"> Kano with criminal force.<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Judge, Malam Ismai\u2019l Muhammed-Ahmed, adjourned the matter until July 7, for summary trail.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Abdul Wada, told the court that the complainant, Umar Sani\u00a0 reported the matter at the Fagge Police Station on June 9.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The prosecutor said that the complainant alleged that at about 8p.m ,the defendant kicked Sani in the groin are during an argument and he fell down and sustained <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/07\/driver-docked-for-allegedly-stabbing-passenger-over-n100-fare\/\">injuries<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 165 of the Penal Code.<\/p>\n<p>In other news, the Edo Government on Wednesday suspended staff unions\u2019 activities in all its tertiary institutions.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by the Secretary to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/09\/bayelsa-state-government-the-most-workers-friendly-in-nigeria-trade-union-congress\/\"> State Government,<\/a> Mr Osarodion Ogie, at the end of the State Executive Council meeting in Benin attributed the action to the protest by students of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, over the lingering industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).<\/p>\n<p>The affected unions according to Ogie are the ASUU, Non-Academic Staff of Universities (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Non-Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics and all allied unions operating across all state-owned tertiary institutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy this notice, academic activities are to resume in all state-owned institutions and all cadre of staff are directed to report to their duty posts immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents across all state-owned tertiary institutions are expected to resume for lectures as necessary measures have been taken to ensure resumption of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/27\/kwasu-promotes-9-academics-to-professor-associate-professor-cadres\/\">academic<\/a> and non-academic activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cManagement of the affected institutions have been mandated to pay all outstanding salaries immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe management of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, is hereby directed to implement a no-work-no-pay policy, declare vacant and advertise the position of any staff that refuses to resume work in line with this directive,\u201d the government\u2019s scribe ordered in the state, \u201c the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Sharia Court in Kano on Friday ordered that a 22-year-old trader, Umar Suleiman, who pleaded guilty to kicking his neighbour in the groin ares and stomach be remanded in a correctional centre.
