{"id":29762,"date":"2022-06-14T14:40:37","date_gmt":"2022-06-14T14:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=29762"},"modified":"2022-06-14T14:40:37","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T14:40:37","slug":"imo-apc-hails-supreme-court-judgment-affirming-macdonald-as-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/14\/imo-apc-hails-supreme-court-judgment-affirming-macdonald-as-chairman\/","title":{"rendered":"Imo APC hails Supreme Court judgment affirming Macdonald as chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p class=\"entry-title\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/14\/apc-lauds-matawalle-for-good-governance-youth-inclusion-in-politics\/\">All Progressives Congress (APC)<\/a>, Imo Chapter, has commended a judgment of the Supreme Court affirming MacDonald Ebere as the rightful chairman of the party in the state.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1655195517989\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1655195548165\">In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of APC, Cajetan Duke, on Tuesday in Owerri, the party described the judgment as a \u201clandmark victory\u201d.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1655199782885\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1655195549709\">The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the ruling followed a majority judgment of the apex court, setting aside an earlier ruling by an Abuja High Court, which recognised Dan Nwafor as the chairman.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1655195773615\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1655195826504\">Nwafor had challenged the dissolution of Imo APC executive committee from the ward to state, in the run-up to the 2019 General Elections, on account of gross abuse of office and anti-party activities.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1655199310341\">However, in the Supreme Court judgment of Monday read by Justice Adamu Jauro, on behalf of four other justices, it was held that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, lacked jurisdiction to have heard the suit ab initio.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1655199349341\">\u201cBeyond the participation of Imo delegates at the just concluded national convention, led by Hon.
