Some Cyber security\u00a0 experts on Tuesday called for constant awareness\u00a0 and sensitisation of\u00a0 persons and organisations on diverse cyber threats. to help protect data.<\/p>\n

Data is information<\/a>, facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis.<\/p>\n

The experts made the call at an awareness session organised by Infodata\u00a0 Professional Services in collaboration\u00a0 with Forcepoint,\u00a0 in Lagos.<\/p>\n

The theme was: \u201cData and Human Factor\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Mohammed\u00a0 Eishenawy, Senior Manager, Sales Engineering, Forcepoint, said that creating awareness\u00a0 from time to time\u00a0 bout the new technologies and the basic protection from Internet risk was very important.<\/p>\n

Spraking with our correspondent of Nigeria\u00a0 in Lagos on the sideline of the event, Eishenawy said: \u201ctoday\u2019s\u00a0 awareness\u00a0 was\u00a0 for professionals that need to protect\u00a0 people\u2019s data.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was to talk about\u00a0 new things happening\u00a0 in Cyber security because\u00a0 as consumers\u00a0 of technology, we have started to adopt new things.\u201d<\/p>\n

According\u00a0 to him, many of the \u201cnew things\u201d are taking people\u2019s \u00a0data to the Internet and in order to secure it, heavy investment is required.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019For people to take credit\u00a0 they need awareness and that is why\u00a0 we are here\u00a0 to talk \u00a0about technology<\/a>\u00a0 to use in protecting people from getting any data breach or exposure when this data is going into the Internet.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event is to create awareness\u00a0 for the professionals\u00a0 who are working in the industry. They need to listen to new technologies, new solutions \u00a0that can help do the mission of protecting their data.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever,\u00a0 it is our responsibility\u00a0 to be careful\u00a0 of how we are dealing with this technology. So, creating awareness\u00a0 from time to time about this technology and how we can do basic\u00a0 protection\u00a0 from the internet\u00a0 risk\u00a0 is very important.<\/p>\n

According to him, Forcepoint\u2019s focus is dealing with people when they are interacting with their data.<\/p>\n

Eishenawy said that Forcepoint put the human in the centre\u00a0 of its attention to protect their data and their interaction with the Internet.<\/p>\n

Also, Eze Isiago, Regional Solution Manager, Sub Sahara Africa, Infodata said: \u201c We partnered with Forcepoint to sensitise prospects and customers about the growing trend in technology.\u201d<\/p>\n

Isiago said that most businesses had migrated to the cloud due high cost of maintenance of server\u00a0 infrastructure\u00a0 and as such, having data in the cloud required securing and coordination.<\/p>\n

He said that \u201cstaying\u00a0 in the cloud\u201d meant that\u00a0 data were no longer within the confines of one\u2019s power.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to help the customers\u00a0 in cloud adoption to secure their data, consolidate them and give it a single view.\u201d<\/p>\n

Isiago\u00a0 said that as much as businesses were excited to go to the cloud, Infodata was saddled with the responsibility to secure their data.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are concerned about helping people to work without any issues\u00a0 and with the barest minimum risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

He emphasised the need for organisations to sensitise rheir staff because it gives\u00a0 insight to know that the cyber world is filled with threats.<\/p>\n

Mr Chika Udensi, Regional\u00a0 Sales Manager, Infodata, said: \u201cAs we all know, technology\u00a0 is evolving and Infodat and Forcepoint have decided to come together to give end users topnotch security\u00a0 platform, where they can\u00a0 carry on with their businesses without loosing data\u00a0 within or outside their organisation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Igboa Abumeri, Chief Information\u00a0 Security\u00a0 Officer, StanbicIBTC, said that the event was to create awareness\u00a0 on how to keep safe online and protect the systems\u00a0 made available\u00a0 to customers to carry out financial\u00a0 transactions.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an institution,\u00a0 threats that target our financial institutions\u00a0 and customers are constantly\u00a0 monitored.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstitutions constantly take a look at the potential vulnerable\u00a0 points that\u00a0 customers might fall victims to and then be exploited.<\/p>\n
