{"id":31231,"date":"2022-06-22T16:29:32","date_gmt":"2022-06-22T16:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=31231"},"modified":"2022-06-22T16:34:35","modified_gmt":"2022-06-22T16:34:35","slug":"ehealth-africa-committed-to-building-stronger-health-systems-in-nigeria-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/22\/ehealth-africa-committed-to-building-stronger-health-systems-in-nigeria-director\/","title":{"rendered":"eHealth Africa committed to building stronger health systems in Nigeria\u2014 Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">eHealth Africa (eHA), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), says it is committed to building stronger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/02\/01\/nigerias-health-system-can-deal-with-any-situation-if-well-resourced-osinbajo\/\">health systems<\/a> in Africa, especially in Nigeria in the area of Information Communication Technology (ICT).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Executive Director, eHealth Africa, Juliet Odogwu, said this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Odogwu said that the organization had been able to train over 200 males and females in technology and software-related skills at different stages of its programmes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAs an organization, eHA has more women at its senior management level and it\u2019s working to see a balance in the ratio of women to men at all levels of its workforce.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cTo achieve this, the leadership of the organization designed some early career programmes to help young female graduates start and build their careers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe noticed that in the technology sector specifically, we have very few females, who are willing to develop the skills or even get jobs in the technology sector because it is seen as a male-dominated field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe have equally realized that obviously women are entering into the workforce in different capacities and technology should not be any different.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe want to build that culture in Nigeria and even in northern Nigeria to be specific to encourage women to see these as vibrant opportunities for them in the long run.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe want to build the immediate capacity in the environment so we need to be able to see in the next one to two years the number of women in the technology sector increase by at least 30 percent in the communities where we work,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to her, one of such initiatives is an all-women cohort of the eHA Academy geared towards helping young women start their careers in software and web development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She said there was also an all-female paid \u201dinternship cohort\u201d that exposes graduates to the organization\u2019s values, mission and better prepares them for full-time employment opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe will continue our efforts to make eHealth Africa the best place to work and our mission is to build stronger health systems in Africa\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She further said that the organization was recently certified as one of the best places to work in Nigeria for 2022 by an international organization called \u201cBest Places to Work\u2019\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Odogwu said that the recognition gave the management the drive and motivation to keep raising the bar.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>eHealth Africa (eHA), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), says it is committed to building stronger health systems in Africa, especially in Nigeria in the area of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
