{"id":3222,"date":"2021-12-10T14:19:51","date_gmt":"2021-12-10T14:19:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=3222"},"modified":"2021-12-10T14:19:51","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T14:19:51","slug":"acci-set-to-implement-mandatory-registration-of-businesses-into-commerce-chambers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/10\/acci-set-to-implement-mandatory-registration-of-businesses-into-commerce-chambers\/","title":{"rendered":"ACCI set to implement mandatory registration of businesses into commerce chambers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has revealed that plans are in place to initiate a bill that would mandate businesses to register with a chamber of commerce.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">President of ACCI, Dr Al Mujtaba Abubakar, disclosed this at the 31st Annual General Meeting of ACCI on Thursday in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The mandatory registration would give more recognition to the activities of chambers of commerce, Dr Al Mujtaba Abubakar insists.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe have directed the Executive Director, National Chamber Policy Centre of ACCI to work with the National Assembly on initiating a Bill that would make it mandatory for businesses to register with a chamber of commerce.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIt will create more impact on policy decisions of government and that will positively affect businesses in the country,\u2019\u2019 Abubakar said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">On what the organization have been able to achieve in the past few months, Abubakar stated that ACCI had succeeded in expanding trade groups toward strengthening the participation of its members.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">H noted that several trade groups along sectoral lines were inaugurated and this helped to\u00a0 strengthen the participation of members and give the chamber the momentum it requires.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI am confident this would help to create specialisation for members and improve their business lines with real-time information regarding their businesses,\u2019\u2019 Abubakar noted.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Commending the adoption of some chamber centres as national centres by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/04\/ikorodu-chamber-of-commerce-to-boost-businesses-with-maiden-trade-fair\/\">Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA)<\/a>, Abubakar expressed ACCI\u2019s determination to expand frontiers in building relationships with embassies<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He said \u201cthrough the embassies, contacts were made to business organisations and as a result, several business networking meetings were held\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThis has not only strengthened the work of the centres but given them a national outlook,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0Deputy President of NACCIMA, Mr Jani Ibrahim also stated that NACCIMA was considering ACCI as a reference point for chamber movement for Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to Ibrahim, with the membership quality and strategic location of its office, the ACCI should propel chamber movement in the African Continental Free Trade Agreement Agenda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has revealed that plans are in place to initiate a bill that would mandate businesses to register with a chamber of commerce.
