Kwara Govt<\/a> has assured of adequate protection for lives of animals and human beings, following the unfortunate death of some animals from fumigation at Olam Grains, Ogbodonroko Area of Asa Local Government.<\/p>\n

This is contained in a statement by Okanlawon Taiwo, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Environment in Ilorin.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, some animals died from fumigation carried out at the premises of the factory.<\/p>\n

It stated that the Commissioner for Environment, Remilekun Banigbe, gave the assurance when she led a team on an inspection visit to the factory, to ascertain the level of damage caused.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe explained that the cause of death of the animals would be investigated thoroughly, to forestall future occurrence.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe told the Mogaji of Ogbodonroko land, Ibrahim Ajape, that the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is concerned about the wellbeing of all the people in Kwara.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe reiterated that Governor AbdulRazaq wants improvement in the standard of living of the people in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said the community Laison Officer, Alhaji Ibrahim Isiaq, assured that the matter was under control, adding that a meeting had been scheduled with the Olam management team.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe meeting is to ascertain the cause of the incident and how to resolve the problem amicably, adding that the community had been hosting the company for a long time.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe explained that the community had benefitted immensely from the company\u2019s operation, so they would try as much as possible to proffer a lasting solution to the problem,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Taiwo revealed that the Commissioner met with the management of Olam factory and made clarification on the fumigation carried out at their premises.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe advised that proper investigation should be done on the matter, to know the causes and a comprehensive report should be forwarded to the ministry,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said that a representative of Olam Factory, Solomon Makinde, Human Resource Manager, pointed out that they had met with the community to take adequate measures to address the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cMakinde promised that an autopsy will be conducted to know the cause of the animals\u2019 death and a comprehensive report will be submitted to the Ministry for further necessary action.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
