{"id":33802,"date":"2022-07-08T17:49:25","date_gmt":"2022-07-08T17:49:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=33802"},"modified":"2022-07-08T17:49:25","modified_gmt":"2022-07-08T17:49:25","slug":"2-in-court-for-alleged-n1-6m-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/08\/2-in-court-for-alleged-n1-6m-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"2 in court for alleged N1.6m fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p class=\"entry-title\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Two men on Friday appeared before an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/14\/assault-magistrate-orders-housewife-to-sweep-court-premises-for-5-days\/\"><strong>Ikeja Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court<\/strong><\/a> for allegedly obtaining the sum of N1.6 million on false pretence.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>The defendants are Martins Orisamoluwa, 45, an Estate Agent, of 2, Dele Ajayi Close, Egbeda, Lagos, and Kolawole Fasunuwa, 46, an artist, a resident of 10A, Shina Kuforiti St., Ota, Ogun.<\/p>\n<p>They were charged with conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretences and stealing.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on March 22 at No. 23, Abesan Estate, Ipaja, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Akeem said that the defendants obtained N1.6 million from the complainant, Mrs Temitope Abidoye on the pretence of helping her to secure a plot of land.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor stated that the defendants sent the receipt of payment and also the pictures of the land to the complainant.<\/p>\n<p>Akeem said that it was when the complainant wanted to start work on the land that she discovered that the land was owned by another person.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O.
