{"id":34062,"date":"2022-07-10T14:40:57","date_gmt":"2022-07-10T14:40:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=34062"},"modified":"2022-07-10T14:40:57","modified_gmt":"2022-07-10T14:40:57","slug":"gov-emmanuel-directs-remedial-work-on-failed-roads-in-akwa-ibom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/10\/gov-emmanuel-directs-remedial-work-on-failed-roads-in-akwa-ibom\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov.\u00a0Emmanuel directs remedial work on failed roads in Akwa Ibom"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">Akwa Ibom governor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/21\/akwa-ibom-state-governor-udom-emmanuel-signs-2022-appropriation-bill-into-law\/\"><strong>Udom Emmanuel<\/strong><\/a> has directed remedial work on the collapsed Road in Mkpok, Idua, Ediam and Umana Ndon streets in Eket Local Government Area of the state.<\/header>\n<header aria-label=\"Content\"><\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div id=\"m#msg-a:r-7023228496179857241\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The state Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Mr Charles Udoh, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Eket, Akwa Ibom on Saturday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said the governor had commenced the process of the remedial work at Mkpok, Ediam, Idua, and Umana Ndon streets in Eket.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Udoh stated that the process was ongoing and the contractors would soon move to site of the collapsed roads in the area.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He advised commuters to avoid the failed areas of the roads as soon as possible, saying that avoiding the bad portions would be safe.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cIt is safety first, you must be safe, so everybody must avoid the areas as soon as possible,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The commissioner said that himself, Permanent Secretary and other staff of the ministry would be at the site on Saturday, adding that the attention of the ministry was drawn to the collapsed portion of the roads last week.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He warned motorists plying the routes to look for alternative roads, saying that the road was impassable.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">NAN reports that the road collapsed in early hours of Saturday during the heavy down pour that started by 10 p.m. on Friday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Udoh hinted that he was aware of the collapsed house in Mkpok street in Eket.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Akwa Ibom governor, Udom Emmanuel has directed remedial work on the collapsed Road in Mkpok, Idua, Ediam and Umana Ndon streets in Eket Local Government Area of the state.
