{"id":34609,"date":"2022-07-13T14:45:11","date_gmt":"2022-07-13T14:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=34609"},"modified":"2022-07-13T14:45:11","modified_gmt":"2022-07-13T14:45:11","slug":"court-remands-2-unemployed-men-for-alleged-armed-robbery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/13\/court-remands-2-unemployed-men-for-alleged-armed-robbery\/","title":{"rendered":"Court remands 2 unemployed men for alleged armed robbery"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p class=\"entry-title\">A Makurdi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/03\/reports-accusing-police-of-locking-up-a-magistrate-fake-news-ppro\/\"><strong>Magistrates\u2019 Court<\/strong> <\/a>on Wednesday ordered that two unemployed men be remanded in a correction centre for alleged armed robbery on the Lagos-Jalingo highway.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The police charged Tyoyila Edward and Anande Ernest with criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Magistrate Christy Ikpe did not take the plea of Edward and Ernest for want in jurisdiction.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">She ordered that the defendants should be remanded at the Makurdi Correctional Centre until further mention.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ikpe then adjourned the case until July 19.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Stella Ngbede told the court that the case was reported by two bus drivers, Nasiru Audu and Pius Amaakaven on June 21.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ngbede alleged that the suspects attacked the two drivers and robbed passengers at gunpoint.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">She said that the suspects stole a Tecno phone with two sim cards, waybill papers and receipt of two plasma tv, N13,000 and N15,000 cash, one MP3.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The prosecution said investigation into the matter is still ongoing and prayed the court for another date for mention.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">She said the offence contravenes the provisions of section s6(9) and 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms special provision Act 2004.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Makurdi Magistrates\u2019 Court on Wednesday ordered that two unemployed men be remanded in a correction centre for alleged armed robbery on the Lagos-Jalingo highway.
