{"id":34738,"date":"2022-07-14T19:44:18","date_gmt":"2022-07-14T19:44:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=34738"},"modified":"2022-07-14T19:44:18","modified_gmt":"2022-07-14T19:44:18","slug":"domestic-servant-docked-for-allegedly-stealing-employers-property","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/14\/domestic-servant-docked-for-allegedly-stealing-employers-property\/","title":{"rendered":"Domestic servant docked for allegedly stealing employer\u2019s property"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 26-year-old domestic servant, Sharon Francis, was docked on Thursday at a Kaduna <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/13\/teenager-in-court-over-alleged-theft-possession-of-motorcycle-spare-part\/\">Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court <\/a>for allegedly stealing her employer\u2019s jewellery and other items valued N700,000.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, who resides at Ali Akilu area of Kaduna, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant and two others, still at large, committed the offences on May 15 at Malali, Kaduna.<\/p>\n<p>He alleged that the defendant and her accomplices\u00a0 stole clothes,\u00a0 jewellery, three pieces of watches and two television sets, all worth N700,000.<\/p>\n<p>According to Leo, the items belong to Mrs Esther Paul.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the defendant absconded after stealing the items but was later\u00a0 arrested in Niger.<\/p>\n<p>The alleged offences are punishable under Sections 285 and 271 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel also ordered that the sureties should be blood relation of the defendant and have means of livelihood.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the sureties should reside within Kaduna and show evidence of tax payment to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/21\/2022-hajj-nphcda-urges-state-governments-to-take-advantage-of-available-vaccines\/\">state government.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The magistrate adjourned the case until Aug. 20 for hearing.<\/p>\n<p>In other news, sukka United FC on Thursday bowed out of the ongoing 2022 Enugu State Football League after playing 1-1 draw against Flying Angels FC of Agbani Road.<\/p>\n<p>Emeka Amaechi of Enugu Angels put the team ahead on the 52nd minute before Okechukwu Okafor of Flying Angels equalised on the 89th minute, at the match played inside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/08\/star-plus-fc-reaches-enugu-state-league-quarterfinals\/\">Rangers International FC training pitch,<\/a> Liberty Estate in Enugu.<\/p>\n<p>With the result, Nsukka exited the league with a point to show, while Angels progressed to the quarterfinals of the league.<\/p>\n<p>Reports have it that, FC Inter of Independence Layout topped group A with nine points after round of four matches followed by Enugu Angels on six points.<\/p>\n<p>In the other match of the day, Golden Shooters FC of Emene defeated Golden United FC of Abakpa 3-2 to reach the quarter finals.<\/p>\n<p>Golden United held the 2-1 lead into the break as Ebuka Agu and Arinze Uzoma scored on 7th and 8th minute, while Philip Onyedika reduced the tally to 2-1 on 27th minute.<\/p>\n<p>Shooters continued the scoring after the interval with Onyedika Ohukwu\u2019s goal on 57th minute as Nnaemeka Opah increased the scoreline to 3-2 on 71st minute.<\/p>\n<p>Golden Shooters FC lead group B with 10 points, while R and S Lotto of Onitsha finished second with eight points.<\/p>\n<p>Our correspondent reports that group C quarterfinal teams will be determined on July 15 after the final matches of group stage.<\/p>\n<p>FC Star Plus of Ngwo, who finished top of group D, plays Enugu Angels, who are second in group A at the second match of the day.<\/p>\n<p>While, the quarternal matches will start on July 19, 2022 with FC Inter facing Giant Brillars, who finished second by 10 am at the Rangers International FC training pitch, Liberty Estate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 26-year-old domestic servant, Sharon Francis, was docked on Thursday at a Kaduna Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court for allegedly stealing her employer\u2019s jewellery and other items valued N700,000.
