{"id":35009,"date":"2022-07-16T16:17:45","date_gmt":"2022-07-16T16:17:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=35009"},"modified":"2022-07-16T16:17:45","modified_gmt":"2022-07-16T16:17:45","slug":"wafcon-ogbonna-reveals-falcons-readiness-to-remain-top-of-african-women-soccer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/16\/wafcon-ogbonna-reveals-falcons-readiness-to-remain-top-of-african-women-soccer\/","title":{"rendered":"WAFCON: Ogbonna reveals Falcons readiness to remain top of\u00a0African Women Soccer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"featured-image page-header-image-single grid-container grid-parent\">Super Falcons defender, Glory Ogbonna has insisted that the team had worked hard to win their 10th <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/11\/wafcon-2022-final-group-standings-and-quarter-final-pairings\/\"><strong>Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON)<\/strong> <\/a>in Morocco, to remain the dominant team on the continent.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>Ogbonna who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday from the team\u2019s base in Casablanca, Morocco however, said they also targeted at winning the world Cup in Australia with their qualification on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>She described their 1 \u2013 0 victory against Cameroonians as a difficult game and stressed that they were prepared to face the host team in the Semi finals.<\/p>\n<p>She said that it was difficult because the Cameroonians also played to qualify for the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike I have previously said, there is no longer small team in Africa and moreover that the Cameroonians are also one of the biggest teams in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe won that game with determination to qualify for the World Cup and also enhance our chances of retaining the Africa Women trophy that we last won.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to win the trophy for a record 10th time to remain dominant force in Africa Women football.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeyond Africa, we are also looking at winning the Women World Cup,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>Ogbonna maintained that while the Falcons respected the host country, they were, however, not loosing any sleep over the semi final match with them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very focused in our next match which incidentally is against the host team,\u201d Ogbonna said.<\/p>\n<p>The defender described the support from Nigerians and their fans as the biggest motivation to the team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Super Falcons defender, Glory Ogbonna has insisted that the team had worked hard to win their 10th Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, to remain the dominant team on the continent.
