{"id":35303,"date":"2022-07-19T05:31:27","date_gmt":"2022-07-19T05:31:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=35303"},"modified":"2022-07-19T05:31:27","modified_gmt":"2022-07-19T05:31:27","slug":"rotary-club-offers-free-medical-service-to-500-patients-in-8-oyo-communities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/19\/rotary-club-offers-free-medical-service-to-500-patients-in-8-oyo-communities\/","title":{"rendered":"Rotary Club offers free medical service to 500 patients in 8 Oyo communities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than 500 people in eight communities in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/09\/fg-oyo-state-to-align-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway-bridge\/\">Ido Local Government Area (LGA) of Oyo State<\/a> benefited from the free medical outreach organised\u00a0 by Rotary Club, Ibadan Jericho Metro.<\/p>\n<p>The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the outreach, held on Monday at Ladunni village in Ido LGA, had seven other villages as beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Oluseye Diyan, President, Rotary Club Ibadan Jericho Metro, said the programme was one of the projects\u00a0 for the\u00a0 2022\/2023\u00a0 rotary year.<\/p>\n<p>Diyan stated that the Club, in partnership with\u00a0 a number of\u00a0 other sponsors, organised the outreach to cater for the health of people in the rural area.<\/p>\n<p>He said 500 community members from eight communities in Batake, Ladunni and\u00a0 other villages around Ido LGA were beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have brought them here through the Primary Health\u00a0 Centre at Ladunni village for the free medical outreach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the essence was\u00a0 to provide medical facilities for the members of\u00a0 the communities in very far away from town who didn\u2019t\u00a0 have any medical facilities around them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are here to kick start the project, hoping that the healthcare facility would come alive. The Oyo State <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/23\/german-government-implements-alarm-level-of-gas-emergency-plan\/\">Government<\/a> would send medical personnel to the centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers of the community are being tested for malaria, blood sugar, blood pressure and deworming.<\/p>\n<p>About 20 doctors are on ground and other medical personnel, volunteers from University College Hospital and the United United States of America are all available.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is our own way of doing Rotary business and helping the less privileged, thereby putting a smile on the faces of people in the rural areas,\u201d Diyan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have liaised with the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme (OYSHIA) to sensitise people to the need for them to have health insurance and we will also pay for the health insurance scheme of a\u00a0 good number of them to kick-start this process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the partners who organised the outreach, Dr Kemi Sanni, Founder of ConnectDcare Inc. USA, said the foundation started in 2013 in conjunction with other\u00a0 partners, in collaboration with Ogun, Oyo and Lagos Governments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom our statistical research, we found out that local areas like this don\u2019t have access to healthcare and even those that are in the city that do have access cannot afford it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is just a supplement to help our people because not everyone can afford healthcare.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sanni stated that it was imperative for people to have regular check ups twice a year and minimum once a year.<\/p>\n<p>She said 90 per cent of those examined were hypertensive and wondered how they kept going about with high blood pressure.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Dr Sola Akande, Executive Secretary, OYSHIA, stated that partnership with the government was inevitable to enhance quality healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n<p>Akande noted that with enrollment into the scheme, there would be funds to sustain the health care facility in the communities.<\/p>\n<p>Some beneficiaries of the service, Toyin Oladeji and Taye Adegbite, expressed gratitude to the organisers of the medical programme.<\/p>\n<p>NAN reports that other partners for the outreach include Naykash Healthcare, Hope For All Inc, GHL Foundation, Ken and Sara George, Huston, Texas, USA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than 500 people in eight communities in Ido Local Government Area (LGA) of Oyo State benefited from the free medical outreach organised\u00a0 by Rotary Club, Ibadan Jericho Metro.
