Mr Moshood Aliyu, an Ilorin-based legal practitioner, advised youths<\/a> on Saturday to build their careers and avoid the desperation of seeking greener pastures abroad.<\/p>\n

Aliyu observed that Nigerian youths were becoming so desperate to leave the country that they gave up their jobs.<\/p>\n

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that many young people were losing sight of the importance of adding value to their lives.<\/p>\n

He observed that they would rather spend large sums of money obtaining visas that lead nowhere and end up accomplishing nothing even after traveling abroad.<\/p>\n

“Youths require more orientation.” As many Nigerian youth<\/a> believe, the grass is not always greener on the other side of the world. You can plan your own success in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

“Some prefer to work in hard or menial jobs abroad rather than the more convenient and lucrative job opportunities in Nigeria.”<\/p>\n

“Some people will travel to other countries without a recognized certificate.” They consider European countries to be a paradise where everything is simple.<\/p>\n

“Contrary to popular belief, it is not as easy out there.”<\/p>\n

“Stop feeling compelled to travel abroad. “You can make it in Nigeria, too,” he cautioned.<\/p>\n

He also advised young people to avoid being duped by bogus travel agents who took their money while promising to get them visas to travel abroad.<\/p>\n

He urged Nigerian youths to believe in their country and to stop viewing foreign countries as their paradise.<\/p>\n

Aliyu urged journalists and non-governmental organizations to embark on youth re-orientation campaigns to discourage unnecessary emigration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
