{"id":35726,"date":"2022-07-21T16:06:37","date_gmt":"2022-07-21T16:06:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=35726"},"modified":"2022-07-21T16:06:37","modified_gmt":"2022-07-21T16:06:37","slug":"court-dissolves-7-year-old-marriage-over-lack-of-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/21\/court-dissolves-7-year-old-marriage-over-lack-of-love\/","title":{"rendered":"Court dissolves 7-year-old marriage over lack of love"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p class=\"entry-title\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/18\/divorce-court-fixes-aug-16-for-further-hearing\/\"><strong>Customary Court<\/strong> <\/a>in Jikwoyi, Abuja, on Thursday, dissolved a seven-year-old marriage between Liatu Ayuba and her husband Abubakar, over abandonment.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Judge,\u00a0Labaran Gusau, dissolved the marriage on the grounds of lack of love and peace in the union.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIt is on record that both parties have consented to the dissolution of the marriage and the petitioner asked for the custody of the children of the marriage which the respondent did not object to that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIn view of this, the court has no other choice than to grant the petitioner\u2019s prayers of divorce and custody of the children since her husband did not object.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe marriage is hereby dissolved and custody of children of the marriage granted to the petitioner. The petitioner is to allow the children spend weekends and holidays with the respondent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe respondent<\/span><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0is<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0also ordered to give N50,000 to the petitioner for the monthly upkeep of the children,\u201d Labaran said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ayuba dragged Abubakar to court, seeking dissolution of the marriage on grounds of lack of love and abandonment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI am exhausted in this marriage. Since I married my husband seven years ago, I have not<\/span><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0experienced<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0love the way a wife should.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cHe stopped eating my food almost immediately after I married him.
