{"id":3587,"date":"2021-12-11T15:52:28","date_gmt":"2021-12-11T15:52:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=3587"},"modified":"2021-12-11T15:52:28","modified_gmt":"2021-12-11T15:52:28","slug":"lawmaker-advocates-severe-punishment-for-non-performing-politicians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/11\/lawmaker-advocates-severe-punishment-for-non-performing-politicians\/","title":{"rendered":"Lawmaker advocates severe punishment for non-performing politicians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An APC lawmaker in Edo State, Mr Dennis Idahosa has suggested that any politician especially in his Ovia Federal Constituency who fail to deliver on their campaign promises to the people should be stoned.<\/p>\n<p>Idahosa made this call when he empowered 160 women and youths with motorcycles at Iguobazuwa, near Benin in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo, on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Idahosa, the standard that has been set in the constituency is such that the people will no longer tolerate a non performer.<\/p>\n<p>Idahosa who is also the Chairman of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/09\/rep-member-salutes-gen-danjuma-at-84-labels-him-a-living-legend\/\">House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Complaince,<\/a> noted that aside the empowerment, he has over 54 completed and ongoing projects across the 23 wards that make up the federal constituency.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cIt is not about winning elections but fulfilling your campaign promises; here. Again, here we are fulfilling part of our campaign promises.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is just my commitment to the people of Ovia federal constituency, but also my commitment to God and to change the narrative of the past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOvia has seen the light; gone are the days when you turn what is meant for the people to yourself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy the time we are done, whoever that will come on must perform or they will be stoned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, a member elect of the State House of Assembly, Mr Sunday Aghedo, hailed Idahosa, noting that he was never in doubt that the lawmaker would be an effective representative of Ovia federal constituency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere have been others before him, but they failed to do what Idahosa is doing now. He has set a standard that those coming after him will strive hard to achieve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat he is doing today is unprecedented in the history of Ovia federal constituency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Lawrence Okah, urged the beneficiaries to effectively maintain the motorcycles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese motorcycles will enable you all to work and take care of your families,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An APC lawmaker in Edo State, Mr Dennis Idahosa has suggested that any politician especially in his Ovia Federal Constituency who fail to deliver on their campaign promises to the people should be stoned.
