{"id":36407,"date":"2022-07-26T15:47:05","date_gmt":"2022-07-26T15:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=36407"},"modified":"2022-07-26T15:47:05","modified_gmt":"2022-07-26T15:47:05","slug":"fg-seeks-state-private-sector-support-for-affordable-housing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/26\/fg-seeks-state-private-sector-support-for-affordable-housing\/","title":{"rendered":"FG seeks state, private sector support for affordable housing"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p class=\"entry-title\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/07\/obasa-wins-pdp-ticket-for-ojo-federal-constituency\/\"><strong>Federal Government<\/strong><\/a> has called for the support of state and private sector to achieve the provision of affordable housing for citizens.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, FMWH, Mr Olajide Ode-Martins said this on Monday at the 11th meeting of the National Council on Lands, Housing and Urban Development in Sokoto, Sokoto\u00a0 State, North West, Nigeria.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Director of Press and Publicity, FMWH,\u00a0 Mrs Blessings Lere-Adams made this known in a statement on Monday in Abuja.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Lere-Adams said the four-day meeting has\u00a0 the theme \u201cHousing Our People by All Of Government and All Our People.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Martins noted that Federal Government would need the collaboration of the sate governments and private sector in increasing the stock of affordable housing to Nigerians.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201dThe theme of the meeting presupposes that Federal Government alone cannot address the gap in the housing development across the country.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cState Governments and the Private Sectors are critical stakeholders that have to\u00a0 collaborate effectively towards addressing the housing challenges by bringing to the forefront\u00a0 desirable strategies to increase the stock of affordable\u00a0 houses to Nigerians,\u201d he said<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Also speaking at the meeting, the Permanent Secretary, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/24\/ministry-advises-registered-miners-to-continue-mining-operations\/\"><strong>Sokoto State Ministry of Lands,<\/strong><\/a> Housing, Survey and Urban Planning, Mr Ahmed\u00a0 Tambuwal, said that provision of affordable shelter was a basic necessity for everyone.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u2018We are all aware that, Shelter is a basic necessity to every citizen. Such shelter must be affordable while at the same time meets globally acceptable standards. It is critical to family security, child upbringing and economic growth,\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Tambuwal said that the absence of shelter renders the society vulnerable to precarious situations and backwardness.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Permanent Secretary pointed out the importance of collective contribution in tackling the housing challenges in the country, stating that every contribution no matter how small it might be was important<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said the Sokoto State government would willingly provide land and other requirements to interested developers in the built industry who might be willing to partner with the state in the provision of housing for the citizens.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The annual meeting of stakeholders in the built industry is being organized by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing as part of its statutory mandate.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It affords stakeholders in the housing sector have the opportunity to gather, brainstorm, share ideas, identify challenges and adopt policies that impact on moving the sector forward in the delivery of affordable houses to Nigerians.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Participants at the meeting included\u00a0 State Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries for Lands, Housing and Urban Development.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Others are General Managers of Housing Corporations, Surveyor -Generals, Professional\/Regulatory Agencies in the housing sector and other stakeholders in the built industry.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government has called for the support of state and private sector to achieve the provision of affordable housing for citizens.
