{"id":3654,"date":"2021-12-11T21:32:55","date_gmt":"2021-12-11T21:32:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=3654"},"modified":"2021-12-11T21:32:55","modified_gmt":"2021-12-11T21:32:55","slug":"traditional-ruler-offers-free-healthcare-to-500-people-in-warri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/11\/traditional-ruler-offers-free-healthcare-to-500-people-in-warri\/","title":{"rendered":"Traditional ruler offers free healthcare to 500 people in Warri"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wife of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse 111, has offered 500 people free medical outreach in Warri,<\/p>\n<p>Tagged \u201cWuwu Ore Initiative\u201d (Mother\u2019s Love), the outreach was flagged off on Saturday at Ode Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri ethnic nationality in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/11\/21\/nrc-gets-icrc-approval-on-e-ticketing-for-lagos-ibadan-and-warri-itakpe-railways\/\">Warri South Local Government Area of Delta.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Youths and adults from Ode Itsekiri and the neighbouring communities benefited from the pilot scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Olori who was delighted with the new milestone stated that the initiative was to provide adequate healthcare services to people in the riverine communities.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, there were possibilities of reaching other riverine communities quarterly with the health programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a pilot scheme; we are looking at the possiblity of reaching other communities in the riverine areas quarterly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to impact good health on the people; we want people to be very strong so that they can work well and succeed,\u201d the Olori said.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Utake Ovwe who was one of the Coordinators stated that the programme was aimed at enabling those in the riverine areas to have access to quality healthcare services.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, many of the healthcare services around were underdeveloped and under-funded.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that even the riverine dwellers do not have access to quality healthcare services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a medical doctor, I discovered that lots of children were being brought from the riverine areas with sugar level as low as seven per cent, which is not normal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis outreach is first of its kind in Warri Kingdom to the best of my knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople\u00a0are coming from neighbouring villages and towns, not just Ode Itsekiri,\u201d Ovwe said.<\/p>\n<p>Some health services provided at the venue includes medical checks and treatment, dental care, eye check, urine analysis and so on.<\/p>\n<p>Beneficiaries were also provided with palliatives, which included: rice, beans, mosquito nets, wrappers, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with news men, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Felicia Ebitemije, thanked the Olori for her kind gesture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very grateful. In this Christmas season, we have not seen this kind of thing in this communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe is very kind.
