A Grade 1 Area Court<\/a>, Kubwa, has issued a bench warrant authorising the arrest of a 39-year old businessman, Ofonime Udo over failure to appear for trial.<\/p>\n

The Judge, Muhammad Adamu, issued the warrant, following an oral application by the prosecution counsel, Babajide Olanipekun who noted that the defendant was absent to defend the charge against him.<\/p>\n

Adamu also ordered that the sureties be served notices to show cause why the bail bond entered should not be forfeited.<\/p>\n

He adjourned the matter until Oct. 23 for hearing.<\/p>\n

The police had charged the defendant with criminal intimidation<\/a> which he pleaded not guilty to.<\/p>\n

Earlier Olanipekun told the court that the complainant, Akan Udo of Arab Road, Kubwa, reported the matter at the Divisional Headquarters Byazhin on April 22.<\/p>\n

He alleged that the defendant, a brother to the complainant, went to the complainant \u2018s compound, threatening to break his head with a bottle.<\/p>\n

The prosecution counsel further alleged that the defendant said that his mother should die so that he would take over her property.<\/p>\n

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 397 of the Penal Code.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
