9Mobile, one of the country’s leading telecommunications service providers, claims it has a mandate to enroll at least 10 million people in the national identity management enrollment scheme in rural areas.<\/p>\n

This, according to it, is part of its assistance to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to a 9mobile statement, the telco gave the assurance during a stakeholders engagement workshop and capacity building interactive session organized in collaboration with the NIMC in Abuja.<\/p>\n

The workshop was organized to investigate the capabilities and challenges in the NIMC service delivery process in order to propose solutions to identified challenges.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Juergen Peschel, Chief Executive Officer of 9mobile, commended the management of NIMC for supporting the workshop to engage stakeholders in the industry.<\/p>\n

“9mobile will continue to play a crucial role in the country’s national identity management enrollment scheme, particularly in rural areas where we have the mission to register 10 million citizens,” he said.<\/p>\n

“To guarantee that we meet the target, we are constantly extending our capacity in terms of infrastructure and technology to ensure that all Nigerians are enrolled.”<\/p>\n

Oluwatosin Olulana, Director of Sales at 9mobile, also emphasized the importance of ongoing engagement with stakeholders in order to strengthen the nation’s identity management process.<\/p>\n

“9mobile will share resources with NIMC to improve the service delivery process,” he said.<\/p>\n

“In addition, for the next six months, mobile connectivity will be made available to aid the virtual working process.”<\/p>\n

“We are currently planning to provide NIMC offices with up to 20Mbps fiber connectivity.”<\/p>\n

“We believe that by providing the necessary infrastructure, the commission will be able to carry out its mandate in the best interests of the country,” he said.<\/p>\n

Dr. Umar Ba, who represented NIMC Director-General Aliyu Aziz, called for collaboration among stakeholders while restating the commission’s commitment to fostering the development of a robust identity system in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

“NIMC cannot do it alone,” he said. “As a result, we will continue to seek collaboration from stakeholders, particularly 9mobile, one of our most trusted allies.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
