{"id":38904,"date":"2022-08-12T16:07:48","date_gmt":"2022-08-12T16:07:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=38904"},"modified":"2022-08-12T16:07:48","modified_gmt":"2022-08-12T16:07:48","slug":"court-remands-ibadan-herb-seller-for-alleged-murder-of-creditor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/12\/court-remands-ibadan-herb-seller-for-alleged-murder-of-creditor\/","title":{"rendered":"Court remands Ibadan herb seller for alleged murder of creditor"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p class=\"entry-title\">Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Idowu on Friday ordered the remand of a herb seller, Idowu Mutiu, at Agodi Correctional facility for alleged causing death of his creditor in Ibadan.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Mutiu, 40, also known as Osha, whose address was not given is charged with the murder of Olusegun Olayiwola, 73.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<p>The chief magistrate, who did not take the plea of Mutiu, for want in jurisdiction, ordered that he should be remanded at Agodi Correctional facility, Ibadan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said the remand is pending legal advice from the office of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/06\/police-parade-42-suspects-recover-fresh-human-parts-in-pyo\/\"><strong>Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The chief magistrate, thereafter, adjourned the matter until Oct. 13, for mention.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Olufemi Oluwadare told the court that on June 17, at about 9.30a.m., \u00a0Mutiu caused the death \u00a0Olayiwola, with a knife<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Oluwadare said the offence was committed at Dr Thomas Attah\u2019s House, Obiwale Close, Ologuneru, Ibadan.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The police alleged that Mutiu<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">asked for a loan from Olayiwola and used his Lexus SUV as collateral; after allegedly causing his death.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 316 and punishable under section 319 of the\u00a0 Criminal Code Laws of 2000.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Mutiu was represented by Oritsuwa Uwawa.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Idowu on Friday ordered the remand of a herb seller, Idowu Mutiu, at Agodi Correctional facility for alleged causing death of his creditor in Ibadan.
