{"id":39235,"date":"2022-08-15T21:39:14","date_gmt":"2022-08-15T21:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=39235"},"modified":"2022-08-15T21:39:14","modified_gmt":"2022-08-15T21:39:14","slug":"frscs-special-traffic-control-intervention-yielding-positive-results-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/15\/frscs-special-traffic-control-intervention-yielding-positive-results-official\/","title":{"rendered":"FRSC\u2019s special traffic control intervention yielding positive results &#8211; official"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p class=\"entry-title\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">The Lugbe Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Ohaeri Osondu, says the Intervention Special Traffic Control (ISTC) in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/13\/fcta-seeks-greater-media-cooperation\/\">Federal Capital Territory<\/a> (FCT) is yielding positive results.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">Osondu, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja, said that the agency was worried and concerned about the situation of traffic in the FCT, hence the launch of the ISTC in the territory.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>NAN reports that the ISTC has been ongoing in the FCT Lugbe axis for over three months.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">The Unit Commander said that the essence was to make sure that all unnecessary parking and picking of passengers that would create gridlock along the axis was controlled.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">He also said that the deployment of body cameras by the agency was an added incentive to what the Corps was doing to strengthen the enforcement capacity.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">According to him, body cameras have being helping us so far, so good in the intervention special traffic control.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">\u201cThere has been some form of prosecution and people are being arrested accordingly. We are not yet done with the exercise we are doing but there has been tremendous result.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">\u201cIt is on a daily basis. Once it is 3pm, we hit the road and run the patrol till evening aspect of it, then from morning hours we start by 7:30am .<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">\u201cThis is in order to make sure that there is safer road as far as Lugbe corridor is concerned and so far, we have recorded a number of positive result, \u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">Osondu said that Lugbe expressway was at the gateway of Abuja leading\u00a0 to the city centre.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">He said that Abuja being the FCT, the Corps does not want things that would give a wrong image as far as Nigeria was concerned.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">According to him, we have diplomats coming from outside the country, we have some high profile personalities that will want to do things with Nigerians.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">\u201cIf we want to get things right, traffic problem and situation must be very seamless as far as Lugbe is concerned.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">\u201cSo the intervention we do is a kind of joint special patrol with sector command and then we also have support from the headquarters,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">The Unit Commander urged motorists to cooperate with the Corps and other sister agencies partnering with the FRSC to ensure sanity on the road.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv6440477236ymail_android_signature\">He reiterated commitment to zero tolerance to road crashes in FCT, adding that motorists must adhere strictly to road traffic rules and regulations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lugbe Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Ohaeri Osondu, says the Intervention Special Traffic Control (ISTC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is yielding positive results.
