{"id":39312,"date":"2022-08-16T09:04:01","date_gmt":"2022-08-16T09:04:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=39312"},"modified":"2022-08-16T09:04:01","modified_gmt":"2022-08-16T09:04:01","slug":"nigeria-india-to-strengthen-partnership-in-artificial-intelligence-solar-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/16\/nigeria-india-to-strengthen-partnership-in-artificial-intelligence-solar-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria, India to strengthen partnership in artificial intelligence, solar energy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Gangadharan Balasubramanian, says India and Nigeria are moving to strengthen ties from traditional business cooperation to new areas.<\/p>\n<p>Balasubramanian, the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, made this known during the commemoration of India\u2019s 76th Independence Day, on Monday in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/09\/world-indigenous-day-fct-natives-urge-fg-to-recognise-abuja-as-state\/\">Abuja<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Balasubramanian said that the new areas of cooperation will include fintech, artificial intelligence, scientific development, and solar energy.<\/p>\n<p>This he noted will further strengthen bilateral ties between both countries.<\/p>\n<p>The High Commissioner noted that the trade and economic relations between India and Nigeria have been very strong, with over 135 Indian companies operating in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the volume of trade between both countries has increased on both sides after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/12\/how-we-survived-covid-19-pandemic-radisson-blu-hotel-ikeja-gm\/\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe trade volume between India and Nigeria was $14.95 billion in 2021. The trade volume has increased substantially after COVID-19, both ways.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/11\/indian-musical-group-to-groom-aspiring-talents-in-nigeria\/\">India<\/a> is a major importer of oil from Nigeria. Nearly $10 billion worth of oil is being imported from Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndia also exports various issues from agricultural products, to petroleum products, to pharmaceuticals, to textiles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, there is a large possibility of increasing this trade and economic cooperation between our two countries,\u201d Balasubramanian said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that since 1958 when the two countries established diplomatic ties, their relationship has remained one of the best.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince then, our relationship has developed in multi various ways, almost in all places.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuman capacity development is one of the most important areas on which we are concentrating on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we are very happy that with the assistance and cooperation of successive Nigerian governments, we can now say that our relationship is very strong and very cordial,\u201d Balasubramanian said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the two countries have established positive military cooperation, including the training of military personnel.<\/p>\n<p>The envoy said his country will be happy to continue with the partnership and cooperation with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/15\/nigeria-to-host-icc-u-19-cricket-world-cup-qualifiers\/\">Nigeria<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Gangadharan Balasubramanian, says India and Nigeria are moving to strengthen ties from traditional business cooperation to new areas.
