{"id":39789,"date":"2022-08-19T15:19:41","date_gmt":"2022-08-19T15:19:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=39789"},"modified":"2022-08-19T15:19:41","modified_gmt":"2022-08-19T15:19:41","slug":"group-unveils-digital-manifest-for-travellers-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/19\/group-unveils-digital-manifest-for-travellers-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"Group unveils digital manifest for traveller\u2019s safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p class=\"entry-title\">A group, Transport Drivers Healthcare Safety Initiative (TDHCSI) on Thursday, unveiled an Independent Online Manifest (IOM) for the safety of transporters and passengers.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>The unveiling was organised by TDHCSI in partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/13\/onyeama-donates-furnished-12-classroom-block-pledges-library-to-school-in-enugu\/\"><strong>Enugu State Government<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/18\/frsc-confirms-3-dead-in-auto-crash-in-kogi\/\"><strong>Federal Road Safety Corps<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the IOM, the Chairman, TDHCSI Mr Solomon Ude said the group created the App to ensure safety of drivers and passengers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dWith this App, we want to ensure that drivers and passengers\u2019 information are digitally captured and uploaded on a system,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ude stated that through IOM, the group would reward best drivers nationally and within states as well as best drivers in the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe came up with the online manifest to monitor the activities of drivers on the road through the passengers&#8217; reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch will put the drivers on the right paths, knowing that they are being monitored by every minute,\u201d Ude said.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining further on the benefit of the IOM, the chairman said it would help the FRSC, security agencies, families, drivers and transport owners in tracing passengers, vehicle and their locations.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the app reduces risk, traces missing passengers, gives privacy to people\u2019s data and stores passengers\u2019 travelling history up to 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in his opening address, the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Joseph Toby said the command was totally in support of the IOM to help eradicate fatality in crashes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dOur target is to reduce road accident by 15 per cent and passenger\u2019s manifest is not a new thing to travellers but the difference is that this one is digital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is need to patronise it to enhance our productivity in checkmating accidents, kidnapping and other vices on the road,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Toby said that by clicking on the IOM, road users would be able to access whatever information they warned.<\/p>\n<p>Delivering a lecture on Importance of Driver\u2019s Health and Passengers Manifest, the Superintendent Commander, FRSC, Enugu, Chukwumerije Mbe cautioned drivers on negligence to their physical, emotional and spiritual health.<\/p>\n<p>Mbe advised drivers to avoid driving while experiencing health challenges as such would expose them to road crashes and accidents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAvoid driving when your are experiencing health challenges like, depression, Asthmatic, Diabetes, pressure Physical challenges and other emotional trauma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlways subject yourself to test if you notice anything before embarking on any journey; All these constitutes risk to passengers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that most drivers were affected by fatigue, alcoholism, bad sight and drug abuse.<\/p>\n<p>A participant, Mrs Meltida Okonkwo and a former health worker at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Enugu advised drivers to always observe the rules and regulations guiding the road.<\/p>\n<p>Okonkwo, however, urged the FRSC to oraginse routine training for drivers and always remind them of the need to safeguard their lives and that of passengers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A group, Transport Drivers Healthcare Safety Initiative (TDHCSI) on Thursday, unveiled an Independent Online Manifest (IOM) for the safety of transporters and passengers.
