{"id":39837,"date":"2022-08-19T19:36:29","date_gmt":"2022-08-19T19:36:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=39837"},"modified":"2022-08-19T19:37:45","modified_gmt":"2022-08-19T19:37:45","slug":"court-orders-remand-of-3-teenagers-a-12-year-old-over-rape-of-pwd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/19\/court-orders-remand-of-3-teenagers-a-12-year-old-over-rape-of-pwd\/","title":{"rendered":"Court orders remand of 3 teenagers, a 12-year-old over rape of PWD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Iyaganku Family <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/19\/nasarawa-states-judicial-service-commission-dissolves-area-courts\/\">Court<\/a> sitting in Ibadan ordered the remand of three teenagers and a 12-year-old in a juvenile home on Friday for allegedly raping an 18-year-old Person with Disability.<\/p>\n<p>The rape victim is their neighbour\u2019s daughter.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecution counsel, Insp Folake Ewe, told the court that two of the four accused are siblings aged 15 years and 12 years.<\/p>\n<p>She said three of the accused conspired and raped the victim on July 21 at Aba Teacher, in Olodo Area, Ibadan<\/p>\n<p>They consequently briefed the 12-year-old about their escapade and he went to take his turn on July 27, Ewe told the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe victim\u2019s screams attracted passers-by who got the 12-year-old arrested. His confession led to the arrest of the three other accused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe offence contravenes the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/02\/10\/man-27-docked-for-alleged-defraud-of-pos-operators-in-oyo\/\">Criminal Code of Oyo State<\/a> and is punishable,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n<p>Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs Patricia Adetuyibi, did not take the plea of the defendants\u00a0because of lack of jurisdiction, but ordered their remand at the juvenile home.<\/p>\n<p>Adetuyibi said the defendants\u2019 case file had been sent to the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution for advice.<\/p>\n<p>She adjourned the matter to Sept. 29, for mention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Iyaganku Family Court sitting in Ibadan ordered the remand of three teenagers and a 12-year-old in a juvenile home on Friday for allegedly raping an 18-year-old Person with Disability.
