{"id":40245,"date":"2022-08-22T18:47:55","date_gmt":"2022-08-22T18:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=40245"},"modified":"2022-08-22T18:47:55","modified_gmt":"2022-08-22T18:47:55","slug":"frsc-boss-commiserates-with-amputated-victim-of-dangerous-driving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/22\/frsc-boss-commiserates-with-amputated-victim-of-dangerous-driving\/","title":{"rendered":"FRSC boss commiserates with amputated victim of dangerous driving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Acting Corps Marshal, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/30\/acting-corps-marshal-warns-frsc-personnel-against-misconduct\/\">Federal Road Safety Corps<\/a><\/strong> (FRSC), Mr Dauda Biu, has commiserated with a female student, Fatima Suleiman, who was knocked down by an underaged driver in Sokoto and had her leg amputated.<\/p>\n<p>Biu was represented by Sokoto State Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr Kabiru Yusuf-Nadabo, at the Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital Sokoto (UDUTHS) on Monday, where the victim is recuperating.<\/p>\n<p>He described the accident, which led to the amputation of the teenager\u2019s right leg, as unfortunate.<\/p>\n<p>Biu assured that FRSC was in liaison with Police authorities to ensure that the perpetrator did not go unpunished,\u00a0to serve as deterrent to others.<\/p>\n<p>The Corp Marshal called on parents to desist from allowing their children to drive vehicles without requisite permission.<\/p>\n<p>He said FRSC was determined to ensure that all underaged drivers were punished according to the law while the vehicles were sanctioned appropriately.<\/p>\n<p>Reports have it that Suleiman, aged 16, was knocked down by a car driven by one Aliyu Sanusi-Umar, after she wrote her final year examination at Khalifa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/11\/23\/we-will-work-hard-to-ensure-that-edo-college-of-nursing-sciences-is-recognized-internationally-provost\/\">International College, Sokoto.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sanusi-Umar was alleged to have been driving the car in a dangerous manner and run into Suleiman who was waiting for her parents.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was rushed to UDUTHS after the accident, and her right leg was amputated following severe mutilation of the leg.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to newsmen at the hospital, the victim\u2019s mother, Hadiza Suleiman, called on authorities to ensure that the perpetrator faced the wrath of the law.<\/p>\n<p>She said her family was determined to seek for appropriate compensation from the perpetrator.<\/p>\n<p>The mother said, although, the perpetrator could not return her daughter\u2019s leg, however, requisite compensation must be paid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThis will serve as deterrent to others, as enshrined by Shari\u2019ah law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActivities of such underaged drivers had been reported to the authorities on many occassions,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Acting Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Dauda Biu, has commiserated with a female student, Fatima Suleiman, who was knocked down by an underaged driver in Sokoto and had her leg amputated.
