Federal Government College, Kubwa; and Federal Government College, Suleja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;padding: 0px;border: 0px\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;line-height: 22.8267px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\">Mann said that current research revealed that some students are \u2018book- smart but could not control their emotions,\u2019 adding that such an indicator was quite disastrous.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;padding: 0px;border: 0px\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"line-height: 22.8267px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 22.8267px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\">According to him, moral decadence was on the increase and there was the need to teach students at the early stage of life, good behavioural attitude.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;padding: 0px;border: 0px\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"line-height: 22.8267px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 22.8267px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\">Mann said emotional intelligence referred to the ability to perceive, control, and evaluate emotions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;padding: 0px;border: 0px\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;line-height: 22.8267px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\">According to him, some researchers suggest that emotional intelligence can be learned and strengthened, while others claim it\u2019s an inborn characteristic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;padding: 0px;border: 0px\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"line-height: 22.8267px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 22.8267px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\">\u201cThe ability to express and control emotions is essential, but so is the ability to understand, interpret, and respond to the emotions of others,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;padding: 0px;border: 0px\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"line-height: 22.8267px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\">Mr \u00a0Kaodi Onuoha, Chairman of the Parents\/Teachers Association of \u00a0Federal Government College, Suleja, said that it was important to teach the youths\u2019 emotional intelligence at the early stage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.5em;padding: 0px;border: 0px\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;line-height: 22.8267px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\">Onuoha advised the students to ensure that they lived good lives in order to be better citizens in future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Civil Society Organisation\u00a0(CSO), \u2018Advocacy for Positive Behavioural Patterns Initiative\u2019, has advocated for the teaching of skills in emotional intelligence in secondary schools.
