The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in a latest statement, has assured Nigerians of safety on the nation\u2019s roads during the Yuletide.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n

\n

This was according to the FRSC Sector Command in Enugu via Corps Commander Joseph Udoabba on Monday during a town-hall meeting with stakeholders at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla.<\/span><\/p>\n

Udoabba was represented at the event by the Deputy Corps Commander, Logistics, DCC Anthony Ogbodo s<\/span>aid that for the FRSC to achieve its goals, it needed motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations.<\/p>\n

He noted that the town hall meeting, which resulted from the collaboration between the FRSC<\/a> and the UNTH, was one of the measures to educate motorists on reducing highway carnage.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the corps commander, there are bound to be challenges on the roads, especially if motorists drive against traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n

Motorists were also advised to always be on their seatbelts and in possession of their drivers\u2019 licenses.<\/p>\n

Passengers on their part were urged to call drivers to order when they were involved in reckless driving.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs a passenger, you have the right to correct reckless drivers or report them to officers at a checkpoint. Safety is everyone\u2019s business,\u201d Udoabba said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ozalla Unit Commander, FRSC, Mrs Petronilla Udeinya, during her statement, also said that the meeting would enable the corps to give an account of its responsibilities and get input from stakeholders.<\/span><\/p>\n

Udeinya noted that while the Federal Government had given the FRSC the needed support to align the corps with global trends and innovations on traffic management, there was the need for <\/span>corresponding input from road users.<\/p>\n

Also, the Chief Medical Director, UNTH, Prof. Obinna Onodugo, said that the medical institution was appreciative of the collaboration it had with the FRSC.<\/span><\/p>\n

Onodugo, who was represented by the Head, Public Relations, UNTH, Mr Cyril Keleze <\/span>said that the presence of the unit command in Ozalla had brought sanity to vehicular movements along that axis.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have never had it so good and the Ozalla Unit Command should receive the credit. It has been a positive relationship since the current unit commander resumed,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Onodugo assured the<\/span> FRSC of continued support, which included prompt response to the needs of accident victims brought by officers of the corps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
