{"id":41449,"date":"2022-08-31T17:14:08","date_gmt":"2022-08-31T17:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=41449"},"modified":"2022-08-31T17:14:08","modified_gmt":"2022-08-31T17:14:08","slug":"police-arrest-son-over-alleged-theft-of-mothers-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/31\/police-arrest-son-over-alleged-theft-of-mothers-car\/","title":{"rendered":"Police arrest son over alleged theft of mother\u2019s car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/26\/police-arrest-2-fake-soldiers-in-lagos-recover-military-uniforms\/\">Police Command in Lagos State<\/a> has arrested a 25-year-old secondary school dropout for allegedly stealing his mother\u2019s car in Ibadan and attempting to sell it in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>The command\u2019s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest to our correspondent on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Hundeyin said that the suspect, who was the eldest of three children of the woman , was arrested on Sunday by the Ijora Badiya Police Division in Lagos when he encountered some\u00a0 problems with the car.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the suspect, who was alleged to have stolen about N500,000 from his mother earlier to play betting game popularly known as \u2018Baba-Ijebu\u2019 wanted to sell the car to play same <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/10\/qatar-world-cup-to-start-earlier-to-give-hosts-opening-game\/\">game<\/a><\/strong> he had never won.<\/p>\n<p>The image maker said that the suspect left Ibadan early morning on Sunday with the car without the consent of his mother, stressing that while in Lagos at about 9.00 a.m., the car developed fault and he invited a tow vehicle to tow it to somewhere within Ijora Badiya area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile they were going, the driver of the tow vehicle observed that the suspect\u2019s body movement and discussion showed that the car was stolen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe driver of the tow vehicle alerted the police at Ijora Badiya immediately. The police came to them on the road;\u00a0 took the suspect and the vehicle to the station for interrogation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspect immediately confessed that the car belongs to his mother in Ibadan, and that he brought it to Lagos to sell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe police called his mother and asked her the whereabout of her son and her car.
