{"id":41497,"date":"2022-08-31T21:12:36","date_gmt":"2022-08-31T21:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=41497"},"modified":"2022-08-31T21:12:36","modified_gmt":"2022-08-31T21:12:36","slug":"2-men-docked-over-alleged-assault-breach-of-peace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/31\/2-men-docked-over-alleged-assault-breach-of-peace\/","title":{"rendered":"2 men docked over alleged assault, breach of peace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Police in Osun, on Wednesday, arraigned two persons before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates \u2018 Court, over alleged assault and breach of public peace.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants, Bright Iyegbe , 46, and Fasanmi Afolabi , 53, whose\u00a0 house addresses were not given, are being tried on charges bothering on assault and breach of public peace.<\/p>\n<p>The Police Prosecutor, Insp Kayode Adeoye , told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Aug. 31, at about 10:00 a.m., at Dada Estate , Osogbo.<\/p>\n<p>Adeoye alleged that the defendants constituted public nuisance when they engaged in street scuffle before the intervention of policemen .<\/p>\n<p>He told the court that the scenario almost led to the breach of public peace within the vicinity where the incident occurred .<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 249 (d) and 86 of the criminal code cap 33 , vol. 11 , laws of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/08\/27\/insecurity-amotekun-to-recruit-more-personnel-in-osun-commander\/\">Osun,<\/a> 2002 .<\/p>\n<p>The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n<p>The defence Counsel, Mr Theophilus Idowu, prayed the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal terms.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Magistrate, Mr A.A Adeyeba , granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100, 000 each and one surety in the like sum.<\/p>\n<p>Adeyeba said the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court, and should\u00a0 show evidence of tax payments to the court\u2019s registrar as part of the bail conditions.<\/p>\n<p>He adjourned\u00a0 the case until Nov.4 for mention<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Police in Osun, on Wednesday, arraigned two persons before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates \u2018 Court, over alleged assault and breach of public peace.
