The World Bank Group (WBG)<\/a> has expressed its readiness to help in increasing assistance to Nigeria\u2019s poor<\/a> and vulnerable.<\/p>\n

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo<\/a>, in a tweet on Friday, said he met with WBG President, David Malpass, and discussed a wide range of issues including climate<\/a>, energy, investment, exchange rate, and poverty reduction.<\/p>\n

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Osinbajo is in Washington, U.S., to seek global partnerships and support for Nigeria\u2019s recently inaugurated Energy Transition Plan(ETP).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a pleasure to meet with President @DavidMalpassWBG of the WBG.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe discussed Nigeria\u2019s ETP, our commitment to carbon neutrality, Nigeria\u2019s development alongside our climate ambition, strengthening energy institutions and market, attracting FDIs, and exchange rate unification.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was pleased to hear the World Bank Group\u2019s readiness to support Nigeria on a few fronts including increasing social assistance for the poor and vulnerable,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

Osinbajo said he also met with U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, to seek support for Nigeria\u2019s ETP and for Nigeria\u2019s participation as a G7 Climate Partnership Country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
