The Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilisation (CBAAC)<\/strong> <\/a>says it has established a Hall of Fame in Abuja to showcase the achievements of Festival of Black Arts and Culture of 1977 (FESTAC \u201977).<\/p>\n<\/header>\n

The Director-General of CBAAC, Mrs Oluwabunmi Amao, said this on Sunday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.<\/span><\/p>\n

NAN reports that FESTAC \u201977, also known as the Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture, was a major international festival held in Lagos, from Jan. 15 to Feb. 12, 1977.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amao said all heads of nations, including artistes and non artistes, from 59 countries who participated in the international festival were showcased in the Hall of Fame.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have opened a Hall of Fame in Abuja, to showcase what happened in FESTAC \u201977.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn that memorable occasion, all the leaders of the 59 countries participated. The artistes that performed from Nigeria and non artistes from other countries, you will see everything there.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSchools, universities, children have started coming to visit the place,\u201d said the CBAAC DG.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to her, the Centre has started doing something similar in Lagos State, which will represent South-West.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe one in Abuja will represent Northern zone. Fortunately, we have a branch office in Calabar. So, we have started that too.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI will encourage everybody to come and see first the one we did in Abuja,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The director-general, who described the Hall of Fame as a tourist centre, said each visitor would pay N500 to have access to the Hall of Fame.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe just opened it in August last year. It is in the Federal Secretariat, Head of Service, third floor, Room 303.<\/span><\/p>\n
